Thanks @Breptar . That was today picking up in Detroit (after two failed attempts prior in the week...) for transport to me in San Diego.

The drama is truly endless.

After a firm transport cost was reached in writting (text), due to pickup blunders on the side of the broker and after multiple reschedules, AFTER she was finally on route for about one day, I get a surprise invoice with a 40% price increase.

Broker just can't seem to understand "business 101" - that prices can't be modified after an agreement is reached by both parties. Because I'm absolutely unwilling to be taken advantage of, he has already refunded 100% of his cut (about 25% of the total original cost). Unfortunately, the driver is still expecting more than the entire original agreement price (even accounting for the refund).

Driver could be pissed, uncooperative or worst case scenario not give me my truck and key.

I can't stand effectively being held hostage - especially in a case where the other parties have absolutely no leg to stand on. If I pay the driver, ultimately the broker can and should be accountable for that difference. But I imagine without an in person, small claims case (Florida), I'll definitely be out this $$.

I'll certainly update my post recommending this broker when this is finally resolved.

Thanks for listening fellas!

Not sure if you have any friends I LE, but I’m sure the driver would change his tune if he arrived and you had a police escort. Do you have a signed contract? Just reading this has my adrenaline pumping.

Despite knowing to always do so (and sometimes lecturing folks here about the need to do so with dealers...), I don't have a signed contract. I have a combination of text and email (and of course verbal).

I don't have any LE buddies but do have an ex-SEAL buddy. I'd like to have LE here, but in a big city and not able to use 911 for it, timing will be tough.

Got the notice today mine arrived at the dealer and going through final prep. Should hopefully be able to pick it up tomorrow. What a journey it has been. Can't wait to get these stock piled parts on it and enjoy it! Haven't been this excited for a new car in a long time.

I believe nowadays you can use a text as a contractual agreement so long as both parties can prove there was a mutual agreement on a set price. If it's a substantial difference, might be worth small claims to get some money back.

Hi all, new to the forum, been following this thread for some time so first off big thanks to you all for sharing your experiences. It was great sharing the wait with others, passing the time and seeing updates along the way. Ordered back in July, so not as long ago as some of you. My Wildtrak arrived in Birmingham AL by rail on Friday, so hoping to see it show up at my dealer any day now!
Hey! I'm in Montgomery area too!! Was wondering how long shipping was to this area! Tracker says mine was shipped 12/18. Have you gotten yours yet? If so, how long did it take?

I wouldn’t communicate with them Nor pay them another dime till I have the truck and key in my possession. This will make them extremely nervous if you stop replying to them. Then they’ll think they got scammed. If he drags it out call and report it stolen and say here’s who had it last. I bet when the authorities start calling he’ll be a little more willing to get it out of his possession.
