I would probably try the Dorman over the OEM, just because the Dorman should catch and provide a bit of security of not just falling out.

Either really for a temp repair. RTV may seal better (it’s more flexible) but have to make sure the surfaces are clean (it’s gasket maker after all) - JB weld cures fairly hard and may crack back out when it gets hot but will be a lot more secure

Maybe JB weld then RTV around that once it cures haha

If the threads can catch at all and hold any torque and are just cracked, I’d use the original plug with RTV. If it’s totally dorked up though and won’t even catch - get the Dorman and try it without any sealant and the escalate as needed to keep it from leaking

they make different versions of JB Weld for applied use so that shouldn't be an issue. Edit, I would probably try 50133.

From my experience those pan plugs don't really work. If the pan is already trash just seal the hole with JB weld and run it until you can replace the pan.

Hi,

My threads are broken on my oil pan so can’t put a drain plug. Ordered a new oil pan already with the dealer ( will take 1month to come). Was looking for a solution to be able to use the car till they receive it and found this Dorman product 090-080CD, wanted to know if anyone already used it or if anyone know if it can fit and be a solution for 1 month.

‘thank you!

If this plug doesn't work. JB Weld will work, since you are getting a new pan.

Be cautious about how far that stud protrudes into the crankcase, Make sure it doesn't contact rods /crank. If I remember correctly the plug is more on the side so possibly ok .

When I worked as a Honda tech, I always replaced the aluminum gasket (“crush washer”) on the drain plug, ALWAYS, still go today on all of the Hondas in my household (currently 3). The only pans I had to replace due to stripped threads generally a) had oil changes at instant oil change places and b) still had the original gasket on the drain plug.

Plastic oil pans are a STUPID idea!!!
When I bought my c4 Corvette it had a slight oil leak. When I changed the oil I removed the 3+ metal and plastic washers from the bolt.

Looks like he's in Madagascar...could be the reason for delayed delivery?
"He who rules Madagascar rules the world."

Not sure where that quote is from, but an acquaintance of mine always said that when he got control of Madagascar in the game Risk. :)
