Broken Roof Rack

I purchased this from Ford online directly in March 2022 roughly and got my delivery in April 2022. It had cracks on both sides already as seen below. Now on April 20, 2023 just a little over a year later the driver side has completely broke off without any load.

My local Ford is looking into warranty issues as most products are covered for two years, though it doesn’t look promising based on YouTube videos of the trouble people go through.

Has anyone else have this issue and how was it resolved? I hear this crack is made because they have to drill two small slots for the cap to sit flush.

Mine were ordered with the truck and factory installed. They actually left the guard cover pieces that come off the firewall, inside my glove compartment, if I ever wanted to take the roof rack off. They provided a special tool. To remove them with and install. If I’m not mistaken, the tool tip is shaped like a triangle. Theres two slots. So far so good. I haven’t put any load on mine yet. Not sure what the load max. is. But regardless that shouldn’t happen.

Were those installed by the dealership? Either way I would hope that they are under warranty.

Going on 8 months and have loaded the roof rack 6 sheets of dry wall at a time for 3 trips. No cracking. Seems like that install was bad.

Also, they left the tool and caps in the glovebox.

I have the same issue but with both sides. Should be a simple solution to fix but they want us to buy a brand new roof rack.
