Autozone had a special permatex adhesive. It took me two tries but it worked well
I would like to try this versus haggling with my local dealer who did not repair when I had in previously for a service appointment to address this issue. I watched a video for using the Permatex adhesive & the process appears pretty straight forward. The first step is to disconnect the metal table from the connector plug by depressing tab & pulling out the tab. Instructions say to glue just the tab so their is no wire harness pulling on it while the adhesive dries. Then you reconnect. I cannot get the tab out of the connector plug base. @BroncoChallenger Did you remove metal tab? If so, how did you do it? Thank you.

My connnector came off on driver’s side with zero contact by me or contents in back end. Just noticed it dangling there one day when I was trying to identify a speaker rattle - which is another item that my local dealer did not successfully repair when I had in for a scheduled service appointment to address these 2 issues & an oil change.

Received my new rear window last week when it was warmer. Freezing the past two mornings and rear defroster hasnt worked either day.

Took it to the dealer they checked everything out and they ordered another rear glass piece and seals. Unreal

ISO standards require manufactures to maintain a Quality Management System (QMS). Those QMS are intended to ensure that the manufacturer meet certain quality standards in their design, development, and manufacture of products and components for sale to the public. The medical industry is very specific about the requirements in ISO 9001-2015 which require manufacturers to implement a Post Market Surveillance in order to identify sure failures ... Sorry as I was typing this message last night my laptop shutdown... (continued) the automotive industry is certainly not governed by the FDA; however, the NTSB should consider the failure of a rear window defroster to represent a potential threat to public safety! FORD needs to acknowledge this design and product/process defect and at least issue a TSB to its dealers outlining the simple cost-effective repair using the Permatex adhesive and plastic shields.

I actually never bothered on the last vehicle I had where this separation happened, because I was getting rid of the truck and the dealer didn't notice it.

On vehicles I HAVE tried it on, I've had mixed luck, but yes, the metal tab MUST come out of the plastic connector first and have plenty of time to dry. It's been QUITE a while since I've done it so I don't recall any specifics. Sorry.

Sorry, but I can't honestly remember if I could get the lead off. I do remember holding the connector in place as long as I could and using painters tape after that. Like I said it took two tries, but worked. I have since added the plastic covers available from Stickerfab. They look good and protect the connection, although like you, mine just fell off and was not bumped or anything.

This just happened to my Bronco on the driver side. Thanks for posting in this thread, hope they repair/replace since I'm heading into the winter season here in the Chicago area.
