Best suspension for crappy potholed roads?

Hey all. I'm doing some research in advance of saving up for a suspension upgrade. Here's my situation, and I'm looking for advice on what y'all would recommend I switch to for a smooth and comfy cushy ride.​

I commute through New Bedford, MA every day, and the roads are incredibly bad. New potholes and bumps every day. I'm sick of getting thrashed around in every vehicle I've driven and now in my 2022 wildtrak with the bilsteins I'm even worried about the things self-destructing from the corrosion issues they are facing.​

From what I've read, the Fox 2.5 struts seem pretty good. I just don't know the first thing about what to buy. I'm absolutely competent to install them on my own, just need to know what to get. Unless you guys have any different recommendations? Looking to stick with the stock control arms and such, just swap out the shocks and presumably springs.​

Running my tires at 32PSI has helped while still maintaining good highway stability. I do some light off-roading during the summer and lots of snow driving in the winter, but it's primarily on-road bumpy shit-ass roads I'm concerned about, so I'm not super concerned about off-road performance.​

​

Any suggestions of what I should save up for? Currently recovering from paying off my student loans so it'll be a few months before I pull the trigger on an upgrade anyway.​

People seem to like the eibachs and kings. For your use case stay away from digressive shocks like bilsteins and icons.

You simply mentioning the word "digressive" has made me hyperfixate on googling the different types of shock damping. Needless to say, you have learned me some things this morning. Are there specific shocks from those brands that people are buying typically? Thanks for the recs btw.

Maybe try reaching out to some shock experts like Accutune off-road and seeing what they recommend.
They appear to be able to build shocks out and tune them to your specific needs.
I’d contact them to at least get some more info.
Out of the box the off-road shocks I do not think are going to be great pothole shocks. I think they are more for high speed bumps so will likely be very stiff on potholes. But that’s why I’d suggest checking with a place that custom builds shocks.

Thanks for the link! I'll add these to my options list. Nice that it seems that they come pre-loaded... I hate dealing with compressing springs and mounting them. Very many butt-pucker units are spent during those ordeals.

That makes sense! I'm dead broke right now after paying off my student loans so hopefully they'll recommend something that won't bankrupt me twice over. Thanks for the tip, much obliged.
