Fairly new owner of a new ‘24 BR.
It’s going to be my daily driver. And yes, call me a mall crawler.
My question is … for night driving and looking for deer up ahead, I’m going to add ditch lites. How much glare do you get on the hood?

At 76 yo, I realize my night vision may not be the best, but I also noticed when turning right in the dark, I’m turning blind. Almost no light bleed for turning.

No hood glare for me but, I have a matte PPF. If you are looking for ditch lights that are more for long distance lookout for animals, I would suggest a driving light as compared to a flood or wide beam.

Here is my KC Gravity set up (for night wheeling)

I had Amazon Nilites 7” driving lights on my f-250 and they lit it up great. I was planning on a driving light type for the tighter focus. I don’t have any special brand in mind, but those Nilites were damn impressive.

I have a few lights on the front....

Project X Offroad on the rood, KC Pro6 on the sides and front bumper, KC Flex Era 3's in the bumpers (they're bright as HELL too!)

You can also get knuckle pod mounts that actually turn with your wheels as well.

Check out our Baja Designs and Diode Dynamics kits. For a Bronco Raptor I recommend Baja Designs. The best Bronco deserves the best lights.

SPOTS are ideal as they go far but COMBOS are the most popular as they have both a SPOT and a WIDE lens in them.

Our complete kit is here which includes the lights and wiring harness: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-a-pillar-kit-for-2021-ford-bronco-w-kr-off-road-brackets/

I went with Auxbeam P4 spots. Haven’t installed yet. Anyone have any thoughts?
These are strictly for night driving in an area with a lot of deer.

Not a high quality light at all. It'll throw light out, but it's not a quality light. It's an imported light.

Also keep in mind lights above the headlights are not legal for on-road use, only off-road.

You'll find quality lights from brands like Baja Designs, Diode Dynamics, KC HiLITES, Rigid Industries, ARB/Nacho (same people).

Non SAE lights and non “clearance” lights mounted above the headlights are illegal and can be a dangerously unsafe to other drivers…quality SAE fog and driving lights mounted to the front can greatly increase visibility safely…

SAE lights above the headlight are also illegal unless used correctly.

We get a lot of customers who buy SAE Fog lights to install on A-Pillars because they are LEGAL. But they don't realize they are legal when used correctly. On the a-pillars is not correct.

Even SAE Driving lights are illegal on the a-pillars, because they are TOO HIGH. SAE Driving lights, when installed at the height of high beams, and used as high beams, are street legal. But people get confused when they see "SAE Street Legal"

For my money, I like Baja Designs COMBO light. It's a SPOT light and a WIDE light so the best of both worlds. If we do a Diode Dynamics install... well the COMBO Is the most popular but the better option is either DRIVING or SPOT. I wish they had a COMBO that was Spot and Wide but their combo is DRIVING and FLOOD. For me, I don't like floods on the a-pillars. Gets washed out and reflects off everything. I Prefer the 2nd optic to be wide UNLESS you are aiming them IN THE DITCH, which is a different story.

All pillar/“ditch” and/or roof mounted light is illegal on federal highways, period and “for off road use only”…in Calif. they are supposed to have the wires cut and must covered (yes I have been stopped)…I run them with covers unless off road (they can still stop me for no front plate)…you do you…good luck!
