Brought home our new Bronco then found this paint chip near the tailgate on a rear panel. Looks like a couple of spider cracks branching off from the chip also. I've used the color chip DIY repair kits on my other vehicles (not aluminum) but those chips were smaller, no cracking. What's the best way to fix this? Just sent a message to the dealer, curious what they'll say. Wish I found it before we got it home!

I'd wait for the dealer, that's more than just a rock chip that they could blame on you.

Looks like maybe something impacted the corner there and bent the sheet metal, which caused the paint to crack?
...or maybe it's from the angle the pic was taken at...

zoom out a little also so we get a better sense of what all we're looking at.

I believe that part is not aluminum, but sheet metal instead? (Not that it makes a difference)

I too had a chip/scratch of sorts that I found once I got home from the dealership! It was only yesterday, but I immediately got in touch with my salesman. I am due to take it back to them to look at in a few days.

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago on a new 2021 Ford Edge ST that I purchased. See the URL below for how the issue was resolved.

Hopefully it works out for both of us, let me know what they purpose in your case!

I only had a dealer paint a car once before, and the end result was absolutely terrible. Overspray all over the place, dust everywhere under the paint, poor blending.... makes me nervous to say the least if that's the proposed solution.
Try to find a Ford dealership that actually owns a body shop as well.

When my Bronco had a misaligned door, I took it to my local Ford dealership. I purchased my Bronco from them originally, and conveniently they own their own body shop, which is down the road from the main dealership.

They not only adjusted the door, but did a good job fixing the paint scratches from the door issue.

Sounds like they are going to try and submit it as a warranty claim through the body shop. Hope it goes through!
