It's more about creating a less restrictive path for the air entering the turbo. The injen and K&N replace the section between the airbox and the turbo. There's a few dyno charts to be found if you choose to believe them. With higher boost levels than stock there may be more improvement.

I choose not to believe. Intake on a turbo engine is largely a cosmetic and noise modification.
