Hear’s a sound comparison the left is factory, right is a focal rcx100. Get headphones for the best sound quality it’s not going to be what I’m hearing but give you a idea. It was dark and I didn’t want to jam out and this song was on a sirius radio channel. I’ll take it for a drive tomorrow I’ll install the other and turn it up and decide if I’m going to keep them or not. They are bright and sound good at low volume I think tomorrow after I turn them up I’ll need to use the tone settings for sure.
Thoughts on the sound after a few days? I was going to go with the Kicker 46CSC44 until I saw your post. I found those kickers from another thread who installed them. I've read mixed reviews on kickers though. Now wondering if Focal is the way to go.

thats a sweet look! when I get mine Im hoping this will be possible because with a 2 door it wont take up any room in the vehicle and just upgrade all the stock speakers.
Another way is a home speaker style grill with cloth.
have you built speaker boxes before?

yes i have and taking advantage of the possible existing subwoofer place would be the best use of space bur making a good looking cover on the plastic panel might be difficult

We enjoy our focals very much. They are super bright and needed some EQ tweaking. I have huge bass blockers installed since they sounded like shit without them.

The kickers slap a bit too hard and I had to lower the bass as well.

I’m happy with them it’s definitely better than the factory 4" sound. You’d probably also be happy with the kickers they’re a bright speaker I’ve had them before but 6.5”. All the 4” swap does is add more highs and more clarity. If I had a sub it would probably sound really good now.

If you’re not wanting to add an amp, I recommend speakers that have a higher sensitivity like the Infinity Reference series which have a sensitivity of 93db.

Im not a fan of super “bright” speakers does the focal 4 inch sound a little more balanced? I just noticed the RMS is fairly low at 35.

They sound about as balanced as you can get with a 4" speaker.

My full set up will be these six speakers w an amp and a 8in Cerwin-Vega under-seat sub. I have a similar set up in my current vehicle and it’s really great. I lean more toward great sound than loudness and I’m very happy with what I have. Plenty of volume but sound is really wonderful

The one in my current set up is the companion to the Alpine iLX-650. It’s a really easy set up that sounds great. Not sure what I’m going to get for the new situation. I’m not clear yet if the best scenario is 4 channels or 6. Going to consult with my local car audio guru. My other constraint is that I don’t want to see anything nor take up any usable space in the Bronco, so everything must be tidy and hidden.

I have seen many 5 out there but look at this with DSP
JBL DSP4086 8-channel car amplifier with digital signal processing — 40 watts RMS x 8 at Crutchfield
