I have pretty much decided on the BL without the squatch package. The only issue I have is the standard rims being offered. I don't want to spend an extra $995 for the optional rims. What do you think about painting the shiny machined face black? I want my Bronco to look a little tougher not flashy.
I am upgrading rims because you can add 35” with them. Unlike the standard ones. I have never had any luck with painting.

When a face is "machined" they have also shot clear coat over it to protect the unfinished surface from absorbing contaminates and turning dark. So you can paint it, however, stripping the wheel to powdercoat it will be the more permanent and proper solution. Prices around me are in the $250-800 range for a set of wheels depending on how much stripping you make them do.

Remember, that surface was primed, painted black, then machined to "relief" the metal surface, then clear coated.

You aren't going to scrape off the clear in certain spots then coat and be done with it.

The caliper appears to be in the 1 o'clock position
Thanks for the help there! My aging eyes ain’t what they used to be.

We can check calipercovers.com in about 6 months and they should have options for us according to their owner. This looks a lot less complicated than disassembling and painting ;)

Hahahaha. Those pretend big brake kits are so cheesy. Who are people trying to fool running those fake BBK covers? Haha. Anyone that knows what a BBK is and is into cars knows those things are fake covers. It’s the equivalent of people putting “M” badges on a regular 3 series BMW and pretending it’s an M3

[EDIT] IMHO, your analogy doesn’t hold water. It’s not like a caliper “cover” is trying to fool anyone more than a hub cap covering a plain steel wheel. To each his own, though...

Why is it that you cannot put 35" tires on the standard BL wheels? This is news to me.
Rick, typically a 285/70R17 tire will be on a 7.5"-8.0" wide wheel, while the 315/70R17 tires are typically on 8.0"-8.5" wheels. However, relooking at the Bronco specs, below, the 285 shows to be on an 8" wheel so you may be fine, just check the tire you want to buy for the rim range to see if they are okay on an 8" wheel.

This is a good resource I use, select any 35" tire and look at what the rim range that is allowed for each.

Here are some KO2 examples:

285/70R17

Rim Width Range 7.5-9"

315/70R17

Rim Width Range 8-11"

Thanks for the detailed info, offroad tires are new to me where fitting track tires is old habit.. I had recalled that the standard Badlands wheel was the same size as Squatch (in width/diameter, still don't know offset) so I figured the 35" tires would fit just fine barring offset irregularities. Glad that is clarified to be the case with simple limitations of offset and tire spec.

Although if I was going to get offroad-specific wheel set to swap in/out for those days, steelies would be preferable for their ability to be repaired in the field as opposed to forged/cast.

I think you misread. I stated you can put 35”..
Sorry. I miss read. I meant the other trims not the standard on Badlands.

I think you just stuck up for hubcaps and proved my point.

Is it common knowledge that we’ll have the option to black out the accent color in the interior at order time? I’m starting to think this will simplify things a lot. I don’t want to have to think about coordinating to a color that’s nowhere else on the vehicle. Except for the badge...
