it's hard to see where I'm moving the shifter at night as I start out, there's no light underneath .....

is there a button/switch to turn it on ?

Yeah, it can be lost among all the Speedometers they include on the dash, but if you look closely, you'll see where you can find that indicator. A lot of people feel that the shifter indicator in the center console should light up. Some even believe that it's broken.

I'm always looking at the gauge cluster to make sure I press the button in time to stay in sport mode and that the A.S.S. was actually disabled, so I can easily see the PRDM right there as well. I never even look at the shifter.
