Are front lower control arm skids necessary?

I came from the world of solid axle Jeeps to my IFS Bronco Badlands. Been off road a few times and it appeared the biggest hits were to my cross braces, which I promptly armored up with RCI Offroad skid plates. Are busted LCA a thing? I have not heard of anyone breaking them on the trail.

IMO, not at all. They'll take a lot of beating, but ideally you place your tire on the rock instead of smashing your LCA into it.

I wish someone would come up with a solution for those shock bolts that hang down. I know you can press out the studs and put bolts in so maybe there isn't an easier solution.

I wish they would have made them steel, and I wish they had a profile like a Tacoma LCA, but I think they'll be fine. When I did my 5100 install I reversed the bolts to protect the threads, we'll see if that proves to be wise.

They look cool and make you “capable” lol but I’m not getting any until some come out that don’t use the lower strut hardware to sandwich mount, reports of squeaking due to this attachment method are out there.
