Maybe I'm confused. For $275 its just a thin piece of metal that bolts down to the dash? What am I missing? Am I the only one that thought we would be able to buy a BYOD rail for like $30 when they come out? Wouldn't a hard plastic rail work just fine?
No one else has one out so this is fair market price as far as I’m concerned lol.

You can always wait and if more companies make them it MIGHT be cheaper. But who knows? I’d rather support a good small business for a high quality product.

You nailed it!

I like to run a few industrial zip ties across the span, then use self tapping screws to hold it down.

After that it's just a matter of 2-part epoxy to hold the devices to my DIY rail permanently. What were you planning on doing?

In all seriousness, you're wanting a very rigid beam to span a gap which also has provisions for devices to be placed at the location of your choice. Plastic is only an option if your goal is to have a garbage Walmart product that sucks at everything.

This must be designed, manufactured and tested to function properly. In this case it's billet aluminum which also means there's raw materials, milling time, labor, and finishing.

BTW: Here's a short video of milling a slug of billet. The machine to do this work is in the $15,000-100,000 range, sooooooooo, yea, if you can get this work down to $30 then I highly suggest you start up your own shop and you're going to command 100% of the business of the entire country before tomorrow, you'll be a billionaire just on volume alone!

I had no plan of making one since i assumed they would be a logical price when they came out. I understand that making that product is probably expensive and it is amazing quality, it just seemed like overkill for holding my cellphone and maybe a gopro occasionally. If that is the only option, then i guess some piece of crap walmart phone holder is the way i'll go until some cheap chinese company sells me a plastic rail on amazon lol

I’m getting one of these, but an alternative is what I did on my Jeep TJ.
I ordered a couple sections of kayak T rail, bought the Ramx balls, extensions, phone holders.
3M taped it to the upper dash.
Works fine for a phone, about $100 into it and it isn’t always great, tape comes loose so I have to redo it about every 6 months, and in no way, shape, or form does it hold my handheld CB.
Ill keep this setup in my TJ.
For the Bronco I don’t want to have something makeshift.
I’d rather have something purpose-built, designed for it, and bolt it in once and done.
Yeah, all of us would love to spend $100 on it.
But it is billet, which isn’t cheap, engineered to work, modular, and best of all, $$ is going to a company that shares some passion, is Stateside, and will stand behind it.
I’ll pay for it gladly.
some won’t and that’s ok.
It’s the only option out there specifically for its use, and personally I don’t wanna fool with crap off Amazon or Wish and send my money across the sea anymore than I have to.
my two cents anyway. YMMV

AR | BAM BYODR (Billet Aluminum Modular Bring Your Own Device Rail)

Here are your saucy renders of the three standard colors on the two rail designs. We have Picatinny available in Graphite Black, Tech Bronze, and Tumbled Matte Clear.

Pricing... Everyone wants to know what this sweet piece of kit will cost.

$275.00 shipped. BRONCO6G members will get 20% off ($220)! If you want in on the pre-purchase, before it's on the website or available anywhere else, here's what I'll need you to do. The parts won't be available outside of BRONCO6G until after November 5th or after SEMA wraps up.

Step 1: Reply to this thread with 'SEND IT' and I'll add you to the list on Post #2. Your place on the list isn't necessarily the order you will be receiving your AR | BAM BYODR, because they will be produced in bulk and orders fulfilled as they roll out of anodizing.

Step 2: PM me with your (actual) name, shipping address, and email. Also include the color and rail type you desire. I'll email you with a custom invoice with the BRONCO6G Member Discount applied. This will be applicable to 2 uses. I can go to 3, 4, or even 5 if you have that many BRONCOS. I know some of you will have more than one Bronco. This is also a way to grow the community and drive traffic to the website. This offer will also be available to all existing and new BRONCO6G members, beyond November 5th.

-Smooth Rail Option-

There's also the smooth rail option. Same colors are available.
Graphite Black, Tech Bronze, and Tumbled Matte Clear.

Being that the entire unit is modular, you'll be able to order one rail smooth and one rail Picatinny, if you so desire. In the end, it was just easier to produce the two rails separately. As always, we appreciate the support!

Damn it. I think you all talked me into it haha it does look flippin awesome and seems 1000x better than any alternative i can come up with. i'll have to wait a while as money is tight right now and dont even have my Bronco yet. Also, having nav built in, theres really no rush to be able to mount my phone so i guess i can wait until i can more easily spend the money

Chinese? ..get ready to buy a 100 of em everytime they snap after your hit a pothole. Amazon - “the leader in Chinese crap” for sure

when I head to Oreilly or Auto zone ..always try to get made in usa, unfortunately a lot of parts are only made in China and it’s no shocker when I come back 5 times because the part doesn’t fit or work..and the counter guy laughs and says “we get that all the time”

Not really. It just comes down to aesthetics and your subjective taste. Lateral slots and material thickness are near identical. Anything that mounts on the smooth rail would mount on the Picatinny and vice versa.

Could you clarify the difference and limitation’s question. Wouldn’t the Picatinny provide more options? I can see anything from the smooth fitting the Picatinny, but wouldn’t some Picatinny attachments with multiple securing screws NOT fit the smooth rail due to the limited number and wide spacing of the lateral slots in the smooth rail? Please advise.

BTW - Send it!

You are right, there are fittings like the one pictures that will not fit on the smooth rail. There are still plenty of options for attaching to the smooth rail, just might have to look for an alternative to one with multiple screws like that one has.
So going with picatinny will offer the most flexible for adapters and mounting locations.
