I just received and installed my Prinsu Pro a few weeks ago. Took a little over 2 months to receive it after placing my order (partly because of FedEx) but customer service has been great. You have the option to go from full rack to half rack if you purchase the full rack and a wind deflector for the rear section. If you only purchase the pack saddle (rear rack) you cannot purchase the front section later on down the line if you decide you want to go full rack. So far no complaints. Quality is what you expect from Prinsu. As far as wind noise, it’s actually better than when I didn’t have a roof rack.

Looks great! I like it to be low profile and the hybrid design.

I also get a reply today saying the lead time is around 5-6 weeks. This is a bit crazy in the post-COVID era.

thanks! Yeah the lead time is pretty crazy. But honestly it was worth the wait.

Thanks. Took me about 2 hours from start to finish.
Another question; is it possible (and if so, how easy is it) to get the roof panels out with this on? I cannot find a clear answer on that on Prinsu's website but it looks like it is really tight on clearance.

Considering this versus a TrailRax modular (which I'm pretty sure you can get the roof panels off of pretty easily).

You would need to take the whole front section of the roof rack off to get the roof panels off. I had a hard time deciding between TrailRax and Prinsu too. I do like the concept of being able to take the roof panels off with the TrailRax but I liked the sleeker low profile look of the Prinsu Pro. If you constantly remove the roof panels, or just like the option of being able to easily remove them, I’d say go with TrailRax. You could also run the Prinsu half rack, so you could remove the roof panels, and bolt up the front section of the roof rack when you need it.

Thanks for the reply and this lines up with what I understood. I think my real challenge is that living in Arizona you don't really want your roof panels off between mid April and mid October as it's simply too damn hot and the sun destroys you. BUT, I also am a skier and likely need a full length rack mounted between mid December and mid March so I can put my Yakima Skybox on for carrying skis as needed (usually at least 2 big trips in December and March and occasionally some smaller ones in between). Thus, the time of year when I would want to pull the front piece of a Prinsu off unfortunately also is when I need the front piece on for roof box mounting.

Taking into account the 40" lightbar cutout on the TrailRax and the ability to slap a 40" Baja Designs S8 in there, it's really a tempting setup for me which would probably give me the best of all worlds (and the Pak Rax are very tempting also as I think I could definitely use them well).

Is there anything else out there I should be cross shopping to TrailRax?

Yeah you definitely don’t want to be driving around with the roof off in that Arizona heat. The sun will destroy you and your interior. Just FYI, You also have the option of ordering the Prinsu with a lightbar cutout as well. When ordering there’s a drop down menu for the wind deflector. You can get it with or without a cutout. And you can also purchase window accessory panels if you need them. I think either way, whether you go Prinsu or TrailRax, you’ll be getting an awesome product. I know a lot of guys are running the TrailRax and love it. There wasn’t much out there about Prinsu as far as broncos go when I ordered mine. There still isn’t. But I decided to take a risk and be different. The weight ratings on the Prinsu pro was another reason I chose them. Prinsu Pro has an impressive weight rating of 1000 lbs static and 600 lbs dynamic. Trailrax is rated at 800 lbs static and 300 dynamic. Which is still great. I’m going to be installing a roof top tent in the near future, so the stronger the better in my opinion. I also installed the JCR reinforcement brackets before installing the roof rack. Just for extra support since I knew I’d be getting a RTT eventually. Hope that helps! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

I am curious about how they rate their rack. The front of the rack (I mean almost all the racks) is locked by four tiny studs.

The reason I am interested in Prinsu is that my previous TrailRax side rail is slightly bent right above the driver seat and I don't carry any load at that time. IMHO, that part is the weakness. A long rail section with no clamp or support + a taper profile. Not saying Prinsu is better because I don't see it in person. But looks promising.

That sucks about your roof rack being bent. I can see where that can be a weak point though. Hopefully it’s covered under warranty. And I’m also curious to know how they rate them. Is it all based on calculations or has it actually been tested with that much weight? Is there an actual industry standard for load rating them? Or is it simply all left up to the manufacturer to decide the weight capacity? It’s probably similar to companies rating lumens on their LED lights.

Actually; another (somewhat) dumb question. If you wanted to remove the front section of the Prinsu Pro, running a lightbar would not be possible, correct? Just trying to make sure you cannot somehow leave the wind deflector with the lightbar mount in there even if the front section of the rack is largley removed.

I mainly want a rack for carrying some bulky or irregular shaped gear at times. I'll probably rarely have more than 50 pounds on it, maybe 100 to 150 if I'm running my roof box loaded up along with some extra stuff to the side.

I do not foresee a roof top tent in my future (which seems to be the thing that pushes rack weights the most). If I ever get serious about wanting an option other than straight up tent camping I'd probably buy a Bean trailer to tow around (the new Bean squared is sick!).

Correct, if you remove the front section you wouldn’t be able to leave the wind deflector on. You’d have to remove the light bar and mount it to the studs above the windshield once you remove the rack.

I originally was just planning on running a 270 awning and cargo boxes. That was until my kids were hanging out in my friends ikamper. They kept bugging for a RTT. They are growing so fast and enjoy camping. I’m good with the ground tent, but I want to make camping as fun as I can for them. Id much rather spend the money on an RTT for them rather than iPads and video games. If it makes it fun for them and makes them want to get out it’s well worth it to me.

that squared bean is so sick! I would love to get a trailer but unfortunately I don’t have anywhere to store it. My 62 bel air wagon takes up most of my driveway. I don’t have room in the garage for one either. So that’s as out of the question for now. Hopefully one day though.
