Just tie the back of it to the garage door opener hanger using rope, strap, bungee, zip tie, noodle or whatever you have.

I put a nail in one of the holes in the track - usually around where the bend is.

Cheap - fast - works every time and it is the simplest solution.

This works great, easy on easy off. It will lock it so it won't open, or if open it won't close. Just place above your hood or as high as you want above your hood. I know someone else stated this already, I figure I would just ad a picture

I just pull my plug out of the outlet which is right next to the motor. I'd hate to have the wife hit the button by accident.

If you have a battery backup like mine, pulling the plug doesn't work.

I would have pre cut wood that fit tracks for each side between floor and first roller. Place in track and clamp in place or have pre drilled and a single bolt through board and track. This will guarantee door can’t come down. Never relying just on a vise grip holding weight of door should spring break, which it will one day. You also won’t be relying on door motor or any sensors.

Safest bet….just unplug and disconnect battery if on backup. Putting blocks/restrictors in or on track could spell disaster if the obstruction pressure sensors not working right then you’ll have entire door come off rail and fall on who knows what!!😬

Mine auto closes after it's been open 10 minutes, so I prop a 1x4 up in front of one of the sensors. If they can't "see" each other, it won't close.

Easy solution that takes nearly zero effort.

Which brand of door opener does that. It sounds like a terrible feature. Sometimes I want my garage door open for a few hours.

If I wanted to guarantee that my garage door wouldn't close, I would unplug it, disconnect it from the chain drive, AND clamp a vice grip to the track. ;)

Actually, just putting something in front of the sensor near the floor is enough to stop a LiftMaster from trying to close the door.

It's a Genie "smart" opener. That's a security feature in case you forget to close it. The time delay is actually adjustable. I just have mine set for 10 minutes. Being able to open / close the door with my phone from pretty much anywhere (as long as there's service) is a nice feature.

My Chamberlain does it, nice in case you forget to close it, especially after finishing random outdoor projects. You can press HOLD to keep the door open.

Also have it send me a push notification if the door is open for more than 60 minutes, under the assumption it was supposed to auto-close but something is obstructing the sensor
