Spoiler alert: Ozark overland YouTube channel...

I tried to find the old thread with this was debated back and forth, but saw another example of how some muddy water took its toll yet again.

If you're a fan of his channel of course you can watch the whole video, but for Bronco 6G you can skip to almost the end...about the 43 min mark

Good that he was prepared with a battery pack. It at least got him back to the camp. But it cutting out on the incline had to be nerve wracking. It would have been informative to hear from the driver to elaborate on the conditions and warning (if any at all). The video just showed the lights and engine cutting out. Not sure if there were warnings before that. Also, I wonder if his speed hitting the muddy water was a factor. The engine bay seemed to be awash in the mud which was likely caused by a bow wave overwashing the engine.

That’s exactly what happened (at 43:32)…

Water over the hood, and then sort of stops/ gets stuck and is unable to keep the bow wave so water rushed in under the hood. Wasn’t that surprised that there were electrical/ alternator issues. Not to say a better position of the alternator wouldn’t help. Just saying I’m not surprised given the situation. I wouldn’t take mine in water that deep. But I also am not super comfortable with Feild fixes.

Yeah when it shut off, my immediate thought was he just hydrolocked this engine!

So Jeeps and Toyota's use water proof alternators? 🤷 Lol
Well Jeep alternators are on top of the engine, and Toyota's are probably just build better ;p

I will say though, based on various posts on this board is it seems like the Bronco is extra sensitive to electronics. Meaning it seems like it doesn't take much to go wrong with a sensor or something of the like, and the Bronco just shuts down. It's sort of unsettling to think that your rig is able to run but just refuses to because "something ain't right".

Currently waiting a week for my new alternator. I guess this isn’t for bogging.
