Hey all - got my Bronco about a month ago and have noticed an extremely annoying rattle every time I drove over bumpy roads/terrain. The sound comes from over the left drivers side just behind my head. It occurs with and without the front hard top panel. Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve had tapping sounds from unused seatbelt buckles hitting the door pillar plastic if they’re not situated in the just-right way.

I have a soft top and get an annoying rattle in the same area occasionally. I can’t replicate it but when it starts, it rattles over every little bump

I’ve had a rattle coming from the passenger side airbag cover. On a bumpy road I can hear it coming from there. I put my hand on the cover with light pressure and it goes away. Dealer tightened all screws on that side air bag covers and it went away, but it is now back. I’ll be going through and checking the screws myself and see if any came loose. You might check them on your driver side.

I also have this. A light touch temporarily quiets it. My suspicion is a bit of dust is in there but I haven't had a chance to take it apart and clean it all.

Anything on this? I've got 2 rattles that are driving me mad since I swapped out the hard top for the soft top.. This one (up near my ear on driver's side) is more noticeable at low speed and it's a fast paced quiet "tapping" on every little minor bump. I've removed the airbag cover panels, put them back, jammed my hand in every crevice while moving, tried a microfiber cloth between the soft top and the headliner, in the door, in the window. I can't pinpoint it and nothing I do seems to quiet it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

There are plastic covers over the seatbelt buckles that just snap in. The covers are very loosely fit and rattle. I removed mine almost immediately. They have no use except for looks.

I cut some traction tape to cover the holes that the useless covers snapped into.

Pulled plastic seat belt shoulder bolt cover off and put 1/8” adhesive backed foam rubber on back of cover and snapped back in place…….killed the rattle completely!

Thanks for the responses. I did some listening and fiddling with the seat belt cover during school drop off this morning and I'm afraid that is not my rattle. Mine is definitely coming from somewhere above that area, near the bracket that the front panels of the hard top clamp into. All brackets are secure and bolts are tight. I should add that I did not have this tapping/rattling when I had the hard top on. It surfaced when I switched to the soft top. Any ideas?

Maybe for a different thread but I didn't see anything on search so I will put it here. I have a much less subtle rattle/clicking/clacking coming from the rear. I was able to isolate it to the bar that supports the rear window at the roof. It happens when going over larger bumps. It seems like the soft top near the back window buckles makes contact with that bar and produces a loud clack. Anyone else familiar with this one?

Edit to add I'm talking about the rear tailgate window, not the side windows.

I experienced the same after the first time taking hard top off and putting it back on. I used a drill on those bolts the first time. Second time, I used a wrench to hand tighten and seemed to have fixed it for me. I do hear the hard top flex a bit from time to time on bumpy roads, but I assume that’s normal.

I’ve had two ongoing rattles coming from the front passenger side and a newer one that has developed from the rear the vehicle. I have a soft top and mine is a 2021

One of the rattles coming from the front passenger side is the window itself. My dealership did some work on the timing mechanism in the door, but it is not 100% resolved. The other rattle was coming from the airbag cover/soft top latch area on the passenger side as well. I isolated it to the airbag cover itself, and the dealer tightened up all of the small nuts on the passenger side of the vehicle from front to back. It went away for a short period but has returned. Regarding those two different rattles, I told them that I want to wait until the soft top is replaced by a hardtop and see if this continues.

The rattles that I now hear in the rear sound like they’re coming from the soft top, but I can’t be sure since I haven’t crawled back there to listen to it while the vehicle is being driven. I’m of the same mind to wait until I have a hardtop on the vehicle to see if these rattles continue or not.

Hi Mike! I can look into your bronco's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your bronco's VIN?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this today. Unfortunately wasn't a winner.

@Ford Motor Company I will reach out this weekend. Thanks!
