You guys ever try airing down in the snow? It's quite impressive! I kinda wanna try going lower... Let me know what the lowest you've tried without bead locks.

If it's similar to the affect that airing down in sand gives you, I'm not surprised it helps. Matt's Off-road Recovery YouTube did a Q&A video and he said they air down to single digits for the sand when they do rescues. They're not rock crawling at those pressures, and he didn't specify if they had beadlocks, but my guess is no, just regular rims.

Airing down is the secret. It's also significantly safer in icy conditions.

I've been running 8psi on the Goodyears. With the 2 ply sidewalls, they should be good to low single digits. I'm still building confidence in this tire/wheel combo, but all indications are good. You do need to adjust your driving accordingly. At 8 psi I send it and don't worry.

Tires with a heavier sidewall are going to work that bead harder, so it really just depends on the wheel/tire combo and weight of the vehicle.

On my EB I start at 4psi and romp away, and go down to 2psi if conditions call for it.

It amazes me that more people don't utilize this tool. Its an easy way to make a vehicle more capable on soft surfaces. I routinely drop my rigs down to single digit pressures in deep snow.

I have gone as low as 9 psi when wheeling the Whipsaw with my old 2005 jeep TJ rubicon. I was running the stock Goodyear MT 31" tires back then .

He did a video a while ago about not having bead lock wheels and how he was tired of losing the bead and switched to bead locks.
I haven't seen one where he said he had switched back but that doesn't mean that he has not.

Ah, thanks for the clarification!

Nice to hear that lots of you are going lower than 10psi with no issues. Big snow storm this weekend, might try going down to 5 psi!

Yup, I believe it has been over a year since he installed bead locks.
