It sure would be cool if any of the other top manufactures offered a special discount to those that have been screwed over. Bonus points if they post that deal in this thread!
Oh, sure that would be cool but are you thinking that other companies that have put in their own investment in a hardtop should give a handout from their pocket? There’s only two companies that owe customers anything and that is ADV and APG. They both benefitted from customer order money, or should I say customer investments. ADV asserts that APG received $4.4 million of customer money funding this top. If true, no matter how much anyone wants to spin it APG is the one who owes customers, who did not receive a refund, a top. APG referred inquiries to ADV for preorders, period. Proven here on 6G. If true as asserted by ADV, APG received $4.4 mil of that preorder money to do the 3-4 years of r&d (actually 2-3 years), perfected the top via ā€œbetaā€ testers (aka, silly u tubers and influencers), then as the top nears production quality bump ADV out of the picture, and sell the top directly to new customers. ADV made their bed so they should get what may be coming. Non-refunded customers should get what they had coming, a top from APG, and how about profit sharing. The only out for APG that I see is if they are able to prove that they received no customer funding through ADV. I will go a step further and even suggest that refunded customers should even receive a profit sharing portion.

For the record, where do I fall in this? I am former order holder from Feb 2022. I was one of the lucky ones who got out in time and asked for and received my refund in April of 2024.

There is no scheme here are far as I can see. It takes a lot of time and effort to make something like this. Hell, even the back glass that is curved was a huge undertaking to have made. To try to design and make something like this from start to finish I would think would take 3-4 years and millions of dollars with countless prototypes being built and tested over months to find the issues.

Holy fuck @LiteBrite, do you listen to yourself?

I wonder where the Million$ that ADV collected as a distributor for APG went.

Could it be ... to APG to build your prototype?

The lights are pretty dim, as far as I can see.

Man, that's really nice of you offer. Everyone just send you their Venmo and you can send them all some money to cover buying from a different company.

What????? You don't want to do that???? Because it's not your responsibility???? Because ADV and that other POS company is the ones that did it?????

Yep, other companies that have to pay employees and planned properly and didn't make bad handshake business decisions and didn't 't force people to pay for their product with no ship date don't want to have supplement someone's else HUGE mistake either.

He just said ā€œit would be cool ifā€ not ā€œI think they shouldā€ or ā€œThey should feel obligated toā€.

In my head I saw it more as a way to add more insult to injury to ADV as they slammed other's company's top as being inferior in a youtube video. In no way was I saying give the tops away for free or at a discount that would make a company go under.

I know that. But, don't you think it's a little silly to even think that another company should/could give out discounts affecting how much they make and their employees because of a completely unrelated company? The amount of R&D these companies put into this while trying to make it affordable is crazy and they don't have margins to be just giving discounts out for funzies.

What would have been prudent. is doing what many of us did...... get a refund. The writing was on the wall and this was just musical chairs until the music stopped and someone didn't have a seat. I don't mean to be an ass. But, if you were still in it at this point. You got what you got.

I would assume because APG is the designer and manufacturer and had a prototype on one of their in house vehicles which they removed to put on our vehicle to test it out. We do not have a production top. We have one of their finally revision prototype units and are supposed to swap to a production unit after customers receive their production units. There is no scheme here are far as I can see. It takes a lot of time and effort to make something like this. Hell, even the back glass that is curved was a huge undertaking to have made. 3-4 years?! That would almost be believable if Anderson, Turn, and Armadillo didn’t just prove it wrong. From start of development to delivery of first tops, these companies did it in half that time. At best, APG has been incompetent in developing these tops. At worst, something much more rotten is going on.

Why ask what I think?
Doesn’t matter what I think.
I was simply pointing out you got your knickers in a mini twist thinking my friend J Mar was implying something he was not.
I was just clarifying.

It's all good Dave! No ill will on my end with GotWake as we all got our opinions.

At the end of the day I think we are all on this thread making sure the companies that screwed over the customer's don't do it again.

Let’s not lose track of who the enemy is here. Focus on the government. Er…I mean…ADV. Or APG.
