I bailed on the top Advanced refunded quickly not that it makes it right. I ordered in Oct of 2022. I was batch one sent an email last week cause of course no communication from Advanced. They told me the new date was march now for batch 1. I made alot of excuses personally for them for a long time but finally decided my trust and faith in them was done. Also got to thinking what if the top has issues. Good luck getting them to fix them or address anything quickly if at all. Best of luck to those that are going to wait I hope it all works out.
Wow....I could say my eyes widened with shock on seeing this post, but is it really that surprising after all we have been through?

Seriously. Before I thought these tops will eventually hit the streets.

Now I’m thinking there is a real possibility they don’t.

or that they eventually get sold as Mabett tops. Something is going on behind the scenes

I think their philosophy here is “if you don’t have anything nice to say…”

I’m sure they are are getting lots of cancellations, and don’t want to make things worse

Here's my theory on what happened...
  • ADV wanted to produce a top of the line hard top, but in order to hit a specific price point, the manufacturing would have to be done overseas.
  • Before investing in the molds to create the pieces, they needed to have a substantial list of customers willing to buy into their product design without having produced anything. This would prove they had a marketable product that was worth the effort/cost to go through this process with a vendor.
  • Prototypes were built and distributed for QA, also used to hype up their marketing efforts further and generate more pre-orders to further justify their investment.
  • With this being a new process for ADV, they hit some bumps along the way. Supply chain issues, quality control, whatever you want to call it, at the end of the day, the product wasn't in a good enough state to start shipping out.
At this point, even with the delays, the marketing machine is in full swing. People are likely still placing orders more frequently than people are cancelling them. Because of this, maybe ADV decided it was in their best interest to remain vague about whatever issues they're dealing with and to not openly advertise that to potential/existing customers.

Bottom line is, if they had a complete, finalized product in their possession, we'd know about it. I highly doubt they'll just start shipping these out without another announcement or video posted. Until then, I expect them to continue being ambiguous with whatever delays they're dealing with, or continue to lurk here without posting because they know their public perception surrounding this product has tanked on this forum. Nothing they say, unless it's the shipping announcement, will do much to change people's minds.

Textbook case of over-promising and under-delivering, at least when it comes to timeline & communication. Quality, for obvious reasons, is still TBD.

All this is purely speculation as none of us have enough details to actually put the pieces together.

that is about as perfect of a criteria for a college course as could be be imagined. its unfortunate that a bunch of us are actually caught up in this. i was also as a early order, just told march by adv when i asked.

The crazy thing is they didn’t let all the beta testers talk about the tops lol.
That’s generally how beta testing works. They wouldn’t want anything negative getting out about the product in development before they had a chance to correct it. The problem is they were taking customers’ payments on the things before the beta testing.

What a bunch of crap. Instead of letting you know its delayed until March, you had to actually call them and get your own update. Time to bail out. I would never buy an ADV product.

What the hell is going on here?!

That video of the planned batch releases was what, two months ago? What is the excuse this time? Garden gnomes that fancy stealing hardtops?!

generally yes, but when supposedly all the beta tops are great and the customers are/were clamoring for hope you would think they would have released more positive info

They’d honestly been better off shipping the “acceptable, but not up to our high standards” tops they said they could have shipped a year ago…
