This cap blew off one side of my car today. Any idea how to find a replacement?

What was the outcome? The same thing happened to me...did the dealer replace it? or did you have to buy a new one?

I recently removed my roof rack for the summer. When I installed my caps, I noted that the little release tab on one side was not springing out to the full lock position. I carefully over extended it to the point it would return to the correct position. Had I not seen threads like this, I may not have given it a second look.

I'd recommend everyone check theirs to make sure they are fully latched.

Same, mine blew off too but it was because my friend took it off and didnt properly reattach it šŸ™„ It’s like $32-$35 for a replacement piece from Ford. But it comes unpainted. So there’s an extra cost for getting it painted too. Been debating if I replace it or just get a lightbar lol

I picked my bronco up from the dealer from getting warranty work done and one of mine was missing when I came to get it. They claim they ordered one but it’s been a few weeks. I am very displeased I have to run around with it missing. Thinking I might put a dab of windshield urethane on them if I ever receive it.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to secure with 3M double sided tape or something.. I don’t know what the inside of the cap looks like or how exactly it mounts though.

If I remember from taking my roof rack off, it’s an open cavity. I’m thinking about adding a safety wire to the base plate. Then if it comes loose, at least I won’t lose it.

It’s pretty hollow hooks on the bottom then a push tab up top. I good dab of windshield urethane should hold plenty strong I have no plans for a light bar and with a soft top not looking for a roof rack.

The dealer replaced mine. But the piece does have to be painted to match, which the dealer did for me as well. I did get my bronco from that same dealer though.

That's what I'm thinking. Did you add it to your Bronco?

I hadn't thought about it, but two of these in black wouldn't look terrible as vehicle accents. Assuming black is the raw material color, which I'm guessing it's not.
I'd use as light of "bumper trim" product as you can find ... it would probably match up nicely to the MIC top... or resemble the factory roof rail. These colors aren't black, but a low-gloss dark charcoal. Matches OEM blackout trim very well. I think actual black paint would 'pop' too much and look out of place.

Mine come off, I will use Truck Bed Coating instead of paying to color match.

I’ll see how the new one fits. Supposed to be at the dealership and ready for me to pick up today. I don’t want it to ever move so urethane all the way for me. It can be cut with a razor knife if I ever want a light bar but that’s 98% never happening. I already have a bumper mounted light bar and ditch lights. I could land a friggen plane with what I have now lol.

I’m reinstalling my rack tomorrow to us my RTT next week. I think I’m going to make something when I take rack back off.
