Yes. But if it means getting off this roller-coaster and walking away with a painted white mod top along with the other HE styling cues at a higher cost than the orig. MY'21 pricing, I'm sure there are plenty that are willing to make that swap. Ford has also only committed to price protection for MY'23. That may go all away for MY'24. So pay MSRP for an HE Bronco without price protection or wait another MY and find out that there is no price protection going forward.
This is exactly what I'm considering.

I want the mod top and there is enough on the standard Heritage that I like, so it's very tempting.
Late availability won't affect me much because of where I stand in line at Granger.

But if you’re paying 23’ pricing on an over priced limited edition over 24’ pricing on a regular model are you even saving any money?
Does a few thousand dollars really matter for these specislized, high priced vehicles?

If you really want that car, the price is fine if you have the money.

What does any of this have to do with switching to a heritage in 2023 to avoid paying 2024 prices without price protection?

I have a fairly loaded 2 Door Badlands from Granger on order and would consider a standard Heritage if I thought I’d get it sooner because of less electronics. At this point even without any price protection, it would be about the same. I’m not anywhere near convinced I’m getting my October 2020 reservation filled even in ‘23 based on Granger’s allocations lately so price protection may be a mute point for me anyways.

That’s the dilemma. Also thinking that Ford is gonna do away with price protection after the ‘23 model. So it comes down to whether I think my reserved non-SAS Outer Banks with Lux and rear locker is adequately replaced by a Big Bend mid-package heritage edition with SAS package and white top. Was hoping to see the antimatter blue come back but should've guessed that was a pipe dream.

What are peoples thoughts on getting a standard 2 door Heritage before a loaded 2 door Badlands based on constraints? This waiting and not having any light on the horizon is getting old. It doesn’t sound like the chip situation is going to get better anytime soon.
They have built over 100K Broncos. How constrained do you really think they are?

I've been waiting 750+ days. Enough. Build my goddamn truck,

I too have a fairly loaded Badlands, but that's mainly because I messed up and didn't convert back to Wildtrak before the March cut off for 22.5 M.Y, so I could add Hoss 3.0.

My last check put me in the upper 180's in line at Granger and I know it's going to slip once the '23 M.Y order banks open up, just unsure of how much because of the Mod top availability wording on non-Heritage models.

I have 3 builds penned out for the standard Heritage body, each a little different because of body color (Race Red, Shadow Black and Cactus Gray), and I like them all. I've already fore warned Hunter that the build will be changing.

I don't have a lot of faith in how Ford is going to handle allocations for 23 M.Y, especially to Granger, so I'm going to cautiously watch and see.

All the electronics are still a constraint. We haven’t gotten past it yet and it doesn’t seem like we will anytime soon. If anything, I think it will get worse. If they could build all the high equipped models, they would and most of us would have our Bronco’s. But they can’t so here we sit waiting on chips and hardtops while they build Big Bend Softtops for dealer stock.

You and me both. I expect the same. I was mid 200’s. I picked up a 22 Sport Badlands from Zach and am pretty happy with it but would prefer a 2 door but right now I at least have a bird in hand.

My highly appointed build has been built probably hundreds of times over. I've seen them at dealerships. 100,000+ trucks built. They are not all 2.3L, base 4DR. I'm not saying they have chips coming out of their ears but they are not constrained to fulfill orders of early reservation holders that are still left. FORD is purposely not building these orders. Chips, allocations, etc, its all garbage. They can build vehicles if they choose.

Agree. I think Ford put out a message earlier that basically said convert your reservation in MY23 or it's going away.

I think Ford just wants to wash its hands of the glut of reservations from the botched rollout this model year.

I suspect they want to know just how many reservation holders will still convert and follow thru with the purchase, so they clear out those that have "left the market"... then they can determine just how feasible it will be to finally rid themselves of this self-inflicted log jam.

I would not be surprised if there is an arbitrary "convert-by" date (like 12/31/22) to keep your reservation... (not unlike the 3/19/21 conversion date for price protection).

Bottom line, I think existing reservation holders and MY22 walk-in orders before 3/8/22 will get taken care of. Dealers can still order stock... so it looks like a MY23 walk-in order at MSRP may be what gets lost next year. That would suck... but it sure would pad some dealer profit margins (since with all new buyers would either be buying dealer stock off the lot... or competing for inbound stock orders).

Edit: .... and.... I should probably go take my meds now.

True enough, but the allocation process changed mid stream, so here we (shit), I mean sit. If Chips were prevalent, I’d guess we would not be in the allocation hell we are in.

But if you’re paying 23’ pricing on an over priced limited edition over 24’ pricing on a regular model are you even saving any money?
You are adding the assertion of only factoring in the Limited HE. I didn't mention that specific HE. I don't think people will have a chance at the Limited HE realistically. But I was referencing the [standard] HE based on the Big Bend. In the larger discussion on the HE editions, someone had crunched the numbers and the standard HE is pretty darn close to a regular Sasquatch Big Bend. It really isn't "over priced" for what you are getting compared to a Sasquatch Big Bend. And there will be no production limit on the standard HE.

So if someone is ordering a Sasquatch Big Bend and wants to gamble on retaining their price protection for MY'24, it is a mistake IMO. With a $2k price increase from MY to MY and no commitment for price protection for MY'24, the standard HE at MY'23 MSRP will likely be a better deal than gambling on whether price protection will even be offered for MY'24.
