Looking for some advice on my USB not working, I’ve checked both fuses listed (125 & 139) and even though both look fine I replaced them. The illumination around the USB port is still lighting up, so I pulled the port out and the wires all look intact and making contact. Is this just a matter of ordering a replacement port and calling It a day?

Sorry for the Captain Obvious question: Have you cleaned the 4+ years worth of lint and dust out already?

I thought I had a bad charging port on a phone until the shop tech spent 30 seconds cleaning it out carefully with a plastic pic tool. It worked perfectly afterwards.

I looked in the port and didn’t see any build up, that was one of my first checks along with the fuse.

I'd probably used some canned air to blow out the port just to make sure.

Have you tried different cables? Cables and their connectors can wear out.

I haven’t tried an air can yet. And yes I did try a few cables, I know for sure they work because one of them is the one I use to charge my phone with the outlet in the center console.

I've heard of this before - for some it's the cable for the socket not being plugged in well. For others, it was the APIM module.

Happens to me at least once a month for no reason. I turned off updates while I was sitting in it taking delivery from the dealer so maybe I’m behind on something but never fails. My phone won’t charge, CarPlay is no go (don’t use wireless CarPlay, need the cable) nada…ports are dead.

I can sometimes get it going sound a reset pressing power and uh…that other button, forward maybe? Other times it takes sitting over night and a restart.

I have the Mabett accessory usb ports installed and I’ve even removed that and the front USB ports still flake out.

I just roll down the the windows and drive around like it’s 1970 blasting oldies AM till it decides I can have USB again. 😁

I chalk it to it being a Ford.

Thankfully I have wireless CarPlay so that’s not an issue for me, I was going to use the port to power a small dash cam so other than that not working I’m not missing much.

My USB C recently started going on the fritz - it will charge the phone, but Sync doesn't consistently want to let CarPlay connect via it for some reason. I've tried 3 different cables and 2 different phones....

I blame covid-era electronics

Hopefully it’s just the outlet itself.. I looked into a replacement and the part is like $130. I’d rather that than the APIM..

Idk if I missed it above, but have you also checked your device-side port? My iphones (especially those with lightning) would have terrible contact in the device port after a year or so, leading to spotty connections with any cable.

Iso alcohol cleaned them up well.

I’m fairly certain it’s not a device issue, I’ve tried connecting multiple things (phone, dash cam, head lamp) and nothing starts charging or turning on.

EDIT: I just re-read and you said “front” so I’m guessing you mean the one right behind the windshield.

I was gonna ask if that one worked.

Won’t lie.. didn’t know there was one up there. I’m referring to the one below the dash in front of the shifter.

I don’t know what years/trims have them, but there is a dual USB-C up there on mine.
