Do they use road salt in Alaska? I live in the Northeast and the amount of salt and brine they use on the roads is disgusting. 5-6 years and your new car is reduced to a pile of rusty metal.
No, we have salmon streams and moose to worry about. We plow and sand/gravel...but they are lacking on the plowing the last week. Also this time of year the sun is so low it produces zero heat, so it can be fully sunny and zero snow melt.

The state has been utilizing a calcium chloride on the state highways, but I stay in town most of the time so I don't get involved in it.

A great example of how snow doesn't = rust is my 1997 F150 plow truck. Clean as a whistle with 116k miles.

Year and a half in, I absolutely love it and it’s a keeper HOWEVER, the interior looks like I unleashed a squirrel high on coke. The plastics are garbage. Scratch at the mere thought, not sure how their gonna look in a few more years. Other than that I love the truck.

Have you treated it with any rust protection? If so, which one?

Thanks guys, you are giving me hope for my newly placed big bend order. After reading some of the "issue" threads on the forum I was beginning to feel like I had made a mistake and that they all fall apart...
I realize there will be issues with any car and recalls are part of it, but reading the bad news on the forums can really get you down.
Glad to see positive posts!!
We trade often. Our Wildtrak is primarily the wife’s vehicle. She’s had great rides - Porsche 911, Boxster; Shelby convertible; BMW M3 convert, 540; Rubicons and now ā€œZenaā€. Even our dealer of > 25 yrs remarked ā€œdon’t think she’s giving up that ride for a long time, if everā€. It’s now the ā€œfavorite of all timeā€. (Decades later, it’s the easiest to get in/out of!!). No problems. Only great reports of fun, power, great looks, 18.8 around town with the 2.7, 22.8 on trips. Put a Bestop softop on and she can easily go topless anytimešŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

All you guys with averaging 5k miles per year....get out more!!! šŸ˜†
My problem is I have way to many options when it comes to what to drive, so nothing gets a lot of miles.

None, don't have the need.

I am hoping that mine is the perfect compliment to my Shelby GT350 which is my favorite car of all time so far.
I have a 2-door on order.. the only thing I was questioning is whether to get the larger motor, I keep going back and forth on that.

I'm not sure if I'm just extra cautious, but I don't have any scratching issues outside of the cargo area. All switch gear is still perfect..ect I do realize it is slightly delicate so I do take extra care.

Ya gotta gt350 and you’re going back and forth on the bigger engine?!?! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø The ONLY reason to get the smaller squirrel wheel is if you want the stick shift.

Daily driving my 2 door basesquatch 2.3 mt coming up on one year next week.

Had to get the hoodlatch replaced, and currently at the dealer getting the MT grinding tsb fixed. As others mentioned the interior likes to get scuffed up rather easy but doesnt bother me as in my case its all in the back from carrying things, and I have zero intentions on getting something else anytime soon or later.

They gave me a 23 bronco heritage sport as a loaner. It really makes me appreciate how fun the bronco is to drive compared to more normal cars/suvs.

Still a year later everytime I park my bronco I cant help but turn back to look at it as I walk away, really love it.

unless i'm buying a heritage as a "show car" and only driving it on sunny days it's not an issue for me. Just keep it clean and maybe add some plastics protector product to reduce visible scratches.

After posting this I found a really great thread on the 2.3 vs 2.7

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2-3l-ecoboostĀ®-i-4-engine-vs-2-7l-ecoboostĀ®-v6-engine-not-sure-which-one.78213/

they both have their advantages. I needed to keep my pricing under 50k, plus with the 2-door the 2.3 should have plenty of power. There are good arguments both ways, but for me each time I look into it I come back to the 2.3
Just need to leave it be...
the shelby is 526 horsepower Naturally aspirated V8 with a 8500rpm redline, a manual transmission...and an incredible exhaust note....
I don't need the Bronco to be a rocket as I will not be taking it to track or canyon carving... lol

I have a 2.3 black Diamond four door. You are 100% correct. It’s plenty of power. Ok don’t get why people have to put down everything and everybody these days. Really frustrating.

Loving this thread @AKBronc49! 😃

All you 2 year boys are practically legends around here and were good therapy while the rest of us forum old timers waited to take delivery.

Happy to hear that she’s been a good rig to you and not any serious issues. I’m at 8100 now and have loved every mile, even those in Atlanta traffic….. Well, maybe not so much, but the wheeling has been beyond how I thought it would handle it.

Ready to head back out in the woods now, but with hunting season starting this weekend, may need to give a couple weeks for the crowd to get the lead out first! Ha ha.
