No, we have salmon streams and moose to worry about. We plow and sand/gravel...but they are lacking on the plowing the last week. Also this time of year the sun is so low it produces zero heat, so it can be fully sunny and zero snow melt.Do they use road salt in Alaska? I live in the Northeast and the amount of salt and brine they use on the roads is disgusting. 5-6 years and your new car is reduced to a pile of rusty metal.
The state has been utilizing a calcium chloride on the state highways, but I stay in town most of the time so I don't get involved in it.
A great example of how snow doesn't = rust is my 1997 F150 plow truck. Clean as a whistle with 116k miles.
