2.3, cold engine, valve clatter noise

It’s probably normal. Ecoboosts are typically a little loud. If you think it’s abnormal, I suggest bringing it to your dealership.

It's under warranty so whatever
It's probably fine, mine is loud. If really cold you can add in manual trans grumbling. All go away after 2 miles
I just don't drive hard until warmed up

I think the 2.3 in general is really noisy at cold start, especially being direct injection. The fact that high idle lasts for a while (1-2 mins) compared to other cars doesn't help either. It quiets down a lot when at operating temp.
