  1. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

Not sure about this, Looks like a tight fit, and no padding on the corner mounts. I feel the mini panel cannot handle any impact.
  2. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

It is a trade-off between speed and connectivity. Alignment is for the best throughput. In my limited test, the speed is around 50~when driving. But once you parked, the speed is better (80~90). Still not optimal, but good enough. Yes, a quick release will be better.

Further update: The mini surface is a little bit hot for 3 hr usage (I left it in my truck), so it may not be a good idea to be too close to the hardtop. And not sure if any aluminum foil-based headliner (or sound-deadening butyl sheet) will block the signal. Only more tests will tell.
  4. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

The app just shows a warning about alignment mismatch, you can ignore it and just use it. Last time I tested, if misaligned, it will request you to adjust orientation.
  5. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

This part is understandable. You have unlimited data with regional plan compared with roam one. Under 10mph means it is 'stationary' over a relatively long time, thus the satellite network can consider this as semi-persistent data traffic, making it easier to pre-schedule and pre-allocate...
  6. Scratchuatch Wheel Rings from SFR

It looks good. I had bronze rings before.
  7. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

True. A bit overpriced. However, Elon has quite a solid fanbase so they can sell for any price. But even 599 is probably a negative margin for the first few batches, just like everything in US, the cost is high. Anyway, the same logic can be used to complain about anything, like why life...
  8. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

If that is the case, try a two-phone test. One with the Starlink app and one guest phone connected to Starlink wifi only. Simply turn off the first phone after initialization. :sneaky:
  9. Turn Offroad | Aftermarket Hard Top NOW AVAILABLE

It's good to know you have a better solution. By no means, I want to bad-mouth but I think someone has to step up to ask questions.
  10. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

So I further google it. Right now I believe the hardware could support mobile usage, but it is more of a beta-test and FCC regulation problem, it is banned from the software level. (multiple people say the warning message about using mini in motion). Now you can use the Mobile Priority plan for...
  11. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

Based on what I know, the first batch is almost 'hand-made', thus limited. The mini +$30 plan could be the Model 3 for starlink. Compared with Garmin's inreach system, this is a better SOS setup.
  12. Turn Offroad | Aftermarket Hard Top NOW AVAILABLE

This is the third time I had this. I also added extra foam as you mentioned but one day it just broke into two pieces. Daily driving is not an issue for this fix, but on any bumpy road, the top will shake and the edge will bite into the rubber more and more and one day it is broken. It takes...
  13. Turn Offroad | Aftermarket Hard Top NOW AVAILABLE

Well, I hate to report the water bottle noise comes back around the C pillar area (makes me sound negative). I checked again and the weather strip is broken (see below) after a few trips. . Maybe it is just my vehicle that the fitting is poor. I have almost no gap between the top and the...
  14. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

To have a mini, you need 1. Gen 1-3 starlink (300+, one time cost) 2. a subscription (120 at least) 3. mini (600) 4.mini subscription(30) It is not cheap to own it now. But thing could change once they ramp up the production, likely a standalone plan. And that's why I want to test it.
  15. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

Sounds promising :) So how do you test the connectivity? Youtube? Voice call? or the Starlink app? I think a voice call test could be more interesting as it requires real-time data. Video streaming app has a buffer and you may not notice the disconnection until the buffer runs out. had about...
