I’m fairly confident this is related to the front drive shaft recall. Mine boot is torn and I have a replacement being put in on the 22nd. I’ll let you know if that solves my issue.
if it does, it’s just yet another issue that I was way ahead of ford on, and apparently the average driver...
Shocked no one on this forum bought a cheap decibel reader
I have a soft top, buddy has the hard top. Both 4 doors.
At highway speeds the readings are damn near identical
let me qualify this statement though
Hard tops with that many removable pieces will ALWAYS be fairly loud. Too many...
The OEM hardtop for the 4 door is incredibly loud - very close to as loud as the soft top.
As a fellow soft top owner I just figured you should know that up front
Nah, if the vibrations are bad enough at highway speed for prolonged periods of time, they can cause a litany of different issues simply from aggressive vibrations.
Sigh. I was in my dealer the day this post was created - yet somehow I’m stuck in a back order log.
Lucky guy in this thread got his in a week. Must be nice
Damn - my dealer Gorno Ford was annoying to make order the part. They order approx 1 week ago and are unable to give me an ETA on the arrival of the part.
I REALLY hope this doesn’t mean many more weeks prior to the part coming in. My vibrations are getting worse by the day..
I have the stock antenna - currently run mirror lights and roof lights from the stock wiring locations. Getting lots of radio interference.
Wonder if this would mitigate that?
To be clear, I have the cracked boot and heat effects nothing.
It seems to be all about speed for me. 65+ and the vibration is there.
Debris getting into the drive shaft is a variable though - so perhaps so are experiencing different side effects than others
PICTURE AND VIDEO ATTACHED OF THE ISSUE.
HELL YES.
I’ve been reporting highway vibrations that dissipate in 4x4
Everyone keeps telling me it’s my wheels which have been balanced three times. Dealer said it’s normal. Just read this and checked my boot. ITS RIPPED OPEN
UPDATE: Mine is an...
Stock four-door Sasquatch. At 70mph and higher a vibration is felt in the steering wheel and floorboards. Naturally everybody told me this was wheel balance, I had my wheels rotated and balanced twice now. Dealership of course tried to tell me that the vibration I’m feeling is normal for...
Update: I discovered that the vibration reduces significantly if the truck is in 4hi at highway speeds… to me this means the vibration is drive shaft related??
Agreed, in theory, however when I have taken it to Ford dealships recently it has been chaos. Not enough techs, no communication, keeping the truck for ambiguous periods of time. Last time they straight up told me that I didn't have the window rattle - and I had to force them to watch a video I...
