TLDR

I've got a new front driveshaft sitting in a box in my office waiting to be installed. Hoping maybe to find the time to do it this weekend. I can’t imagine that it won’t solve the problem, but we’ll have to wait and see.

I’ve been in Ford service for 25 years and I’ve never seen anything even remotely like this but yes it is unfortunately common/normal this year. There is a pretty much nationwide shortage of technicians, parts, and rental cars. My store and most every one in my town is booking a month out. 🤷‍♂️

Good information and thanks to these guys for pushing the limits and trying to come up with solutions. but jeez that video was long. 25 minutes of talking! also, I understand that the 4x heavier housing is stronger, but curious how this beefier housing prevents the shaft inside from flexing?

I haven’t checked on ordering individual panels, but aside from that, there is nothing to “submit” anymore. Ford did away with the prior approval program for appearance items. They just need to order the part assuming it is available separately. Are you dealing with service out your salesperson?
