I agree the current gen Taco's manual powertrain is nowhere as nice to drive as the Bronco's, but the new Tacoma this year gets a 2.4 turbo with similar specs to the Bronco's 2.3 so that seemingly should solve the issue if they do keep the manual. We shall see.
The manual grinding is worrisome. If I would have known about the issue before taking delivery I probably would not have bought the Bronco. If the new 2024 Taco happens to keep the manual, I'll probably offload my Bronco and it's rattly (but functionally, lovely) gearbox in the Taco's 2nd model...
IMO, if you didn't wait and get a hardtop from factory the ship has sailed on that option unless you want to spend a dumb amount of extra money on an already overpriced vehicle no matter which option you choose. My .02 is to just roll with the softop - it deff has its advantages too. If you are...
They make a middle panel storage bag just like the front panel bag. I just set mine in the corner of the garage on a folded blanket. No kids to worry about here tho lol
Top lift pro is the only way to go if u r taking rear portion on and off a decent amount. Find a used one from a Jeep guy on Facebook for 1/2 off. You can pull under it in the garage so it doesn't even take up a parking space when in use.
I was worried about rear access too but I found in reality if the top is on there's no reason I can't just grab whatever I need by putting a rear seat down and reaching in cargo area through rear passenger door. Really the whole point of this setup is running it with top off tho so obviously you...
Yes it is, I place the front end of the kayak on the rear rack then just slide the whole thing forward until it's over the rollbar. Slide it off the opposite way to remove.
Yeah it's right about 4' - I always keep a flag in the back for sure though. Honestly, the whole thing could actually be moved about 2 feet forward by putting the rear hitch rack in the fully vertical position (rather than angled back like I have it) and then just sliding kayak forward.
The Seasuckers are nice from the standpoint they go on and off super easy if you are someone who wants to take roof on and off. If you're never taking the roof off I'd just go with a factory rack... there are a bunch of used takeoffs posted for sale around me for like $400 - they seem pretty...
The antenna is mounted on top of the rollbar from the factory so there is a big bump right in the middle of where the front kayak/rack pad in the pic below goes which inhibits everything from sitting nice and flat.
I haven't found a light bar type thing that supports any official load weights plus I don't want the wind noise up there. I actually tried those Valkyrie bars u are talking about but wasn't super happy with the setup, plus they don't help with the fact that I won't have the roof on at all most...
Figured I'd post my setup for summertime since my roof will basically never be on the vehicle and I haven't seen anybody post something similar yet. I simply use the rollbar as my front crossbar along with a Yakima Easy Top pad, and in the rear I use a Yakima Long arm hitch rack.
The stabilizer...
Update: so I followed the directions in the doc above and decided to just unbolt the antenna and then ziptie it off to the wiring that runs inside the rollbar (see below). This allows me to keep the antenna plugged in so there are no potential errors, etc. but now I have a completely smooth...
Basically OBX is the Jeep Wrangler Sahara of Broncos. Meant for people that are honest with themselves and don't plan to get too crazy off-road/want a nicer on-road experience with some "luxury" amenities. Personally, I'm never taking my Bronco into any hardcore off-road situations and I also...
Ok thanks for the info. So if I'm understanding you, the 4 door hardtop version has no provisions for easy access to middle panel latches? If that is the case, I agree might as well just get the cleaner softop version with no grommets at all if I'm gonna have to hassle with doing a reach-around...
I'm considering a GearShade for my bimini option - I need something that can stay on under the hardtop while still allowing easy access for panels to go on and off. I see there are a couple grommets that an allen key passes through for removing front panels, but what is the deal for removing the...
In my opinion, if you are getting up above $50k for this vehicle, yes, it's probably too much for what it is. My wife and I are shopping Hybrid Highlanders right now... for perspective, at $47k you get 36 combined mpg, AWD, the same tow rating the Bronco has, way more space inside, and a build...
Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I'm betting that is what the 2nd document above details - looks like it is having you remove some kind of chip or something where the antenna connects to the head unit.... Didn't really want to get into all that lol
Follow up question before I tear into this - looks like the directions list the antenna as "sat radio/gps antenna" - any idea if removing this would also effect over the air updates or does Ford do that through the connection via your cell/phone app? I don't have built in GPS so I don't care...
