I love the tent and what it can offer but I've been looking at trailers for a mobile office type deal. Work on the road and see what I can from a trailer. End of the day sometimes the best places can only be accessed by foot/boat. Trailers and RTT aint no good for those places.

Disagree, NA engines do not need a vacuum pump. Keeping that in mind might explain why the 2.3 has a pump and the 2.7 uses electric. Of course the 2.7 is used in the F150 which has naturally aspirated options still. Wouldn't be shocked if electric assist becomes the go to standard. Maybe this...

I thought the 2.3 was a derivative of the old Mazda engine, but I just looked it up and you're correct. The old 2.0 was based off the Mazda engine, but when the 2.3 was brought to market, an entirely new 2.0 was as well. Ill delete my comment above to keep misinformation from floating around...

Those numbers are assumptions and poor ones at that. GM rates transmissions on how much torque its expect to deal with in each application. Thus the same transmission can have a different rating depending on what engine its being bolted to. Google how much torque in NM the 6.7 power stroke...

So the start in gear function means starting in gear, clutch engaged! 😀 I was worried it was just the typical, can be started with clutch depressed.

Yall know manufacturers will make different versions of the same transmission right? Its very possible the 2.7 will get more clutch plates, bigger bands, bigger pump, or other changes to handle extra power.

Did a quick B&P 4 door OBX with 4.27 gears and rear locker, steel front bumper with bash plates, MIC top, and lux packages come to $49k msrp Still not cheap but much closer to the Tacoma in price and offroad performance.

Stock for stock, an OBX with the rear locker is the closest to the Tacoma in terms of offroad performance. I dont care about the luxury stuff on these rigs, so I dont know how they compare there. But both will get a decent sized tire, and rear locker. Both will need aftermarket bumpers and...

If you don't like the price, don't buy a sas badlands. You said it yourself, you don't need it. What you get with the Taco is non removable doors/roof. Leaf spring rear suspension. Likely less front suspension travel? No sway bar disconnect. No front locker. Rear drum brakes. Underpowered NA...

Don't worry about, that'll tow easy. If/when someone figures out how to get 2wd low range, make that modification. Low range is great if you need to back up any significant distance, particularly offroad. Otherwise enjoy your camper 👍
