They're not playing dumb, that's Ford's policy on price protection, and it's been this way since before Bronco. If you change Series (WT>BL etc..), PEP code (331A>334A for instance), or Body Type (E5A>E5C or E5B>E5D etc..) then you lose price protection:

Did you order it with the truck or as a separate part?
If it was ordered with the vehicle (on the window sticker) it's included with the purchase as a DIO option.
If it was ordered separately, the book time on it is 4 hrs according to my accessories guide.
Soft top Big Bend bases with no options are getting built as stock. There are not a lot of those in the order bank via reservation or customer order. Let me know when you see a hard top badlands as an order type 2 (stock)
Reservations have priority, then orders without a reservation, then dealer stock. Dealer stock has strict restrictions on what can be built. Our store as an example (600+ reservations) has never received a dealer stock order.

I don't think you get it. There are specific components for each model that come from all over the world. There are capacities that each factory that makes a sub-component has to deal with. Ford themselves have a constraint on the physical number of 2.7L engines they can produce. Then you have...
