To summarize what others have already said, that particular vehicle is a Wildtrak, which can only be optioned as a hardtop. Therefore, it has the electronic and plumbing from a hardtop. However, it is a dealer mannequin, and they were probably having quality issue or shortages with the MIC...
I was thinking along that line too. However, some may worry about premium increase for the vehicle owner, through no fault of her own.
Doesn't the dealership carry some commercial liability insurance? Shouldn't that be explored to cover the "30% responsibility" that Allstate is claiming? and...
That's a great idea, but the rubber cover on the switches is molded together, so you will have to fill all 6 spots, even if that means having un-used switches.
I imagine someone will come out with individual switches underneath, anywhere between 1 and 4 pack, to make sure all 6 spots are...
it's commonly done on show cars, especially on a tuner owned vehicle (as opposed to a privately owned or sponsored vehicle), so they can showcase more products on a given vehicle, and also gives an "option A or option B" choice. It typically has the same wheels on each side, so it doesn't...

Here's what ordering the tow hitch and wiring after build looks like. It does NOT come with everything for a plug-n-play solution. Flip is working on figuring out a solution for those of us who did not or could...
OP, thank you very much for continually providing information, and making that video in the first place. I am thoroughly enjoying this discussion and the research, since I don't have my Bronco yet. When I do get my Bronco, I am sure I won't be able to stay this analytical, and will end up just...
spitballing here (and not feeling too strongly either way), but it's possible that the parallel split point is built into the connector on the 6.5 speaker's side. This way it guarantees that the 6.5 is connected for the 4" to receive power, possibly for resistance/power reasons.
EDIT: however...
That's actually a good point. The harness with the black & white wire is actually an aftermarket one, so we shouldn't use that to indicate what the Ford factory speaker is doing. This harness may physically plug in, but wiring may or may not be correct. We'll need to do further testing with the...
Sometimes that is done on purpose. The speakers may have cross over built in, so only certain frequencies are sent to the smaller speakers connected "downstream"

looks like Galpin Ford and McCoy Ford in Fullerton received Demo units
We don't know what the electric portion is going to look like yet. The factory tow package includes a module, and some forum members have mentioned PWM (pulse width modulation, which is a new way to control bulb brightness based on "on-time", rather than varying voltage. More importantly, this...
if you plan to tow an utility trailer on the road, then you need electrical hookup, and that is the bigger push toward the factory tow package. We have already seen pictures of the hitch itself, and it's really nothing fancy. For people who only use the hitch for bike rack or other carrying use...
Heard back from Connector Experts, the price is for a single connector.... and shipping starts at $15 for UPS Ground.............................
Guess I know who's never getting my money...

I thought about that, but I am reluctant to destroy the factory speaker. That connector appears to be molded onto the factory speaker basket. To remove and reuse it means destroying the factory one. Once I upgrade the speakers, I probably would never go back to factory speakers anyways, so it's...
yah, definitely would prefer to spend $10 for a pack of 4, pre-made. I am sure Metra will come out with something eventually. This is just seeing if any commonly available parts can be adapted to fit (and that is looking less and less likely)

one the plus side, a large quantity is already on order, with an ETA. So by mid October, people should be able to just order this and have it ship out within days. Mouser does charge $7.99 shipping though, whether you order 1 or 100 of these... localized group buy may be in order....
