Exactly. Fun is relative, as we keep telling people. I had fun easily clearing obstacles in my double locked XJ on 33's that Wranglers on 35's and 37's had trouble with. I had a blast wheeling my 2" lift unlocked XJ on 30's on Fins and Things in Moab, with the motorhome tow bar on the front and...
Whether you get the bushings that beef up the rack or not, that might be a question for if you put much larger tires. However, the tie rod braces themselves to me are a must. Inexpensive and simple to install. It is true, the stock tie rods have a weak point at the threads next to the jam nut...
I love how the trans shift points and throttle response changes with the mode. I have the auto trans. In low range the trans won't shift just because we let off the gas, it holds the gear based on speed so there is better driver control, it's pretty cool. And I get a kick out of the cutting...
And you asked the question here about the best way to handle the situation you were in. I bet when you go off road and hunt or whatever you bring other items to make sure you are prepared for various situations. As has been repeatedly said here, having a portable air compressor is one of those...
I have this for rock crawling.
I think I'm like most of us who are experienced wheelers, I was ready for a nice driving modern driver and exploration vehicle. Capable of moderate wheeling once in a while. Comfortable on the rough dirt roads that we go on to see stuff we want to see, go places...
I was going to be a wise ass and say buy a rock bouncer buggy. ;)
A portable air compressor is pretty cheap, 150 bucks, and perfect for that situation. If you're going to go in snow, or off road very much at all, the small investment in a portable air compressor is mandatory.
Age old question with Jeeps. Problem with asking this on the internet is people have different standards and expectations. For one person it's "ok" and for another person it sucks donkey balls. Reality is most people with Jeeps who go that big a tire difference also regear, and while they're at...
It does because Sasquatch is available on all trim levels, and so all gear ratios. The Badlands just happens to have a 4.46 ratio because of the 33" tires. Much bigger difference in gear ratio with a Base and other trim levels.
The rear is linked with a track bar. Ford did a great job with the track bar being long and level, still with a track bar the axle will move very slightly side to side as the suspension travels up and down. The track bar locates the axle side to side, and the arc of it's movement will allow a...
Yes, only difference is tire size and the beadlock capable rims, and the 4.7 vs 4.46 gear ratio. Everything else is the same. The motor, either one, and the 10 sp auto can easily handle swapping to 35's with the 4.46 ratio. I did this, went from the 33's to 35's and didn't notice a difference...
Sorry, didn't read the whole thread, so this might be repeat. I'll share what I did. I wanted my own wheels, so no point paying for SAS. And, if I decided to go with 35" tires I didn't want the Goodyears. Got the new wheels installed, and then I kinda wanted the look with the 35's. So, got 35"...
I've rock crawled for 30 years. I'm not adding any of that stuff, Just lowers the already low Bronco ground clearance. My humble opinion. I'm talking about the shock skid plates, diff skid, and control arm skids mostly. Unnecessary.
I'm heading out in a few minutes to attend the live pre-race show. Pre-race show is at 6 pm Pacific on Ultra4 Youtube channel. Should be a fun evening.
They can't be, because they use tie rod ends. The one piece like you show use rod ends, which means the taper in the knuckle must be drilled out to accept the bolt. I'd much prefer the longevity and service of the tie rod ends and the Icon parts.
I did Ceramic Pro Kavaca. Covered all the painted surface other than the rear tailgate, including around the windshield. Ceramic coated the top and grill and everything else. It was $2300, but I think I caught him at a good time.. On a recent wheeling trip to UT I was with a friend who had Xpel...
I'll be arriving Wed Feb 1st. New car tech appointments start on Thurs. My Bronco should be parked next to the Tech Tent in Hammertown most days, up till Contingency days. Contingency will be Wed, Thurs, Fri and I normally work at the station checking seat belts and window nets. Usually next to...
