They've gone back and forth to date on the Regular Ranger tcase vs. Braptor tcase. Currently the Braptor tcase is planned to go in, but some of the discoveries have been:
The initial reason: The Braptor tcase has clutches in it to support 4x4 modes, and specifically 4WD Auto ("4A" on the drive...
Braptor ECU was set aside, it's currently functioning as a dust collector in the shop.
It's an F150 ECU, yeah. I'll be able to share more specifics once it's all buttoned up as it'll likely take a few passes to know what software features need to be made available for the ECU to make everything...
2/5/2025 Update:
Custom header fitment templates completed
Megazilla intake installed to replace Godzilla intake
Complete re-pinning of OEM PCM -- the most impressive aspect of this entire project thus far, and by far the most time-consuming and error-prone if not documented and tested...
Accessory brackets (mentioned in the previous post) will get installed upon delivery, headers and exhaust are the remaining "fitment" items, plumbing and wiring of the new computer will follow exhaust completion, and then the real fun begins for the first startup and subsequent software debugging.
I'm not sure what the prints were made out of as they were purely for fitment, not actual use.
Here are pictures and video of the final A/C and alternator completed accessory brackets in 6061 billet aluminum:
12/20/2024 Update:
Juicy Motorsports is rocking and rolling along with a lot of progress in the last few weeks:
Confirmed intake clears the hood when installed
Retained OEM battery tray location -- this was a concern initially but is no longer
This allows retention of OEM positive/negative...
In this case it'll be less about piggy-backing modules to retain functions and instead re-pinning connections so the new computer is programmed to send/receive data accordingly. It's about seeing all modules correctly and then determining which notifications the modules are sending so the...
Not going to go with Motec as the intent is to retain creature comforts and factory functionality of things like cruise control, adaptive cruise control, proximity sensors, A/C, G.O.A.T. modes, entertainment system, etc. Juicy Motorsports, where I'm getting the conversion done, has already done...
11/25/2024 Update:
Godzilla V8 + 10R80 Transmission + Transfer Case fitment nearly completed
Engine mount design is complete and will be fabricate for installation as a next step
Oil pan trimming has been trial and error by design and is hacked up to function as a jig for the final version...
I'm in the process of a Godzilla V8 conversion in my Braptor with a shop who has done F150 Raptor conversions to Godzilla V8s. The intention with mine is to retain OEM functionality with the conversion. (See this thread about the conversion if you haven't already)
The Motec approach in this...
Found a pic of one of mine installed after putting them to the test while wheeling -- you can see the drain holes on the bottom in the arrows I drew on the photo:
Headed to the top of Daniel trail in Uwharrie National Forest, North Carolina (I like how the trees in the background are vertical to give perspective to the off-camber angle of the Braptor):
Further towards the top on level ground:
I have built a small collection of Braptor parts from the various upgrades I've done to date, I will eventually sell them all, including the 3.0 V6 and anything else usable that comes out of it from the Godzilla conversion (transmission, Whipple intercooler, etc). In the meantime, they'll sit in...
You didn't miss anything, this is the first question on the brakes. Congrats!
The Godzilla conversion itself won't have a direct impact on the brake hardware, it will be more about the computer that gets programmed to support the new engine that has to also play nicely with all other on-board...
11/1/2024 Update:
Braptor 3.0L V6, 10R60 transmission, and transfer case have been removed.
Godzilla V8 and 10R80 transmission are confirmed to fit.
Next up will be exhaust manifold trimming to improve shock tower clearance amongst many, many other details.
Braptor Godzilla V8 Conversion Project Update 10/16/2024:
Teardown has begun, removal of all skid plates is complete to prepare for removal of the 3.0L Ecoboost V6, 10R60 transmission, and transfer case
Transfer case will get swapped for a new, traditional transfer case (same style used in new...
Hi all - been reading the comments and enjoying the dialogue. I'll provide some further info in a couple of responses to previous posts:
Agree, you can put considerably less money into the 3.0 and get really great numbers. I went back and forth on this, comparing dyno charts of different tunes...
I hear you. This is what lead me to Juicy Motorsports, however, they have already done this in an F150 Raptor and retained OEM function and no Christmas tree dashboard. The install itself actually looks very OEM which was a nice bonus. I got to drive their Godzilla-swapped Raptor that was the...
