  1. Memento Mori Run: Cross-Country + Baja Mitad 2026 (Bronco Raptor + Futura Trailer + ’67 Beetle)

Did you confirm that Broncos are allowed? They position it as a Raptor trip. I’ve pondered their trips for awhile. I’ve done 3 other Baja trips (different outfit) that are considerably less expensive. But without the same level of support and “touch”. But I like the low rent stuff. The EXO trips...
  2. Testing drone out with Bronco in first big snow

Did our burn piles a couple weeks ago in the rain on Donner Summit. We also had a third, unplanned, “burn pile” as someone made a big mistake and tossed some wood stove ash out back. But the ash was not entirely cold. It quickly went underground. Took us awhile to put it out. A scary reminder...
  3. Hammer Built 3rd Brake/Chase/Running/Reverse Light Install.

I have a Turn rear bumper with integrated lights. The downside with using those as chase lights is 1) they are angled slightly downward, and 2) they are mounted low. When using them as chase lights, like in dusty Baja, it’s better to have them mounted higher. But, my current setup has prevented...
  4. Hammer Built 3rd Brake/Chase/Running/Reverse Light Install.

Doesn’t seem to be listed on the HB website any more. Or did I miss it?
  5. RTR Tech-6 0 Offset Wheels & Falken AT4W Tires Pictures

I just got the AT4 31570R17 paired with Method 707 bead grips at 25 offset in matte black. They look sweet and I’m excited to air down lower than I did in OEM wheels. Coming from KO2 33s, these are much more aggressive and seem significantly larger (probably also the impact of the new Bilstein...
  6. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

My rock crawl experience was excellent. But I need to do more sustained crawling to get a good feel. I’ll be doing some SoCal desert high speed runs next week. Will report back. Will be mostly fire roads with some whoops. And there are some short steep sections. And a few whoops. Will see what...
  7. 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) Rating, Is It REALLY Meaningful?

Driving sensibly is worth much more than a specific tire. The tire is the cherry on top.
  8. Method OFFSET???

I installed Method 707 +25mm offset with Falken Wildpeak 315R7017. I like it. But I’m not interested in a lot of poke or 37s. Definitely more poke than my stock +55 wheels with 33s. No rub with Bilstein 8112
  9. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

Yeah I haven’t messed much with the JCO, mainly because two compression settings is enough for my brain right now. Also the JCO are a pain to adjust in the rear. Heh. On rocks I settled on 3/2/3 for a comfortable composed ride doing loops at my local-ish park. Haven’t done any high speed stuff...
  10. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

I’ve noticed it. But only rarely. There is a noticeable click. But I’ve noticed only a handful of times over the last 4 weeks I’ve had them installed. Of course, I often have music on so may not notice. When I do notice it’s just a “click” sound. These are my onroad settings, 4dr Badlands 6cyl...
  11. Kindred Motorworks classic Bronco restoration - test drive

Today I had the chance to test drive restored (well more like re-engineered) classic Broncos from Kindred Motorworks. These are amazing machines. The price, however, is not for the masses. Kindred (based in Vallejo, CA) is a boutique car restoration company focused on classic Broncos (and soon...
  12. Charging Jackery E300 Plus from rear DC port. Ok, or asking for trouble?

For your use the rear port will be fine. If I had a larger battery and greater power demands I’d optimize by re-wiring. I have the Ecoflow Trail 300. It’s DC only but that’s all I need I’ve realized over time. Charge a radio, a light, but I mainly use it to power my fridge (which has a small...
  13. Las Vegas Off-Rodeo Report

I really liked the LV Off Rodeo. Did it before I even got the Bronco delivered. Like at least a year before. Ha. Not planned of course. I naively thought I’d have it sooner. I also drove a 2dr for fun. Enjoyed it. But I gotta haul some kids skiing so stuck with the 4dr
  14. Power Station Shelf using factory mounting points in cargo area

I have a similar battery the Ecoflow Trail 300 also for powering my fridge. Planning to design/fab a steel holder and add nutserts in the rollbar to anchor it, below the factory nutserts. With maybe a strap to anchor the battery to the holder. And line the holder with some extra killmatt I have...
  15. Camera, shock recall - lesson learned & reminder of why I avoid dealerships

Yeah aftermarket stuff is tricky. I always remove the rear license plate holder before an oil change and tire rotation. When I had the rear shocks inspected for the recall, I patiently explained to the tech how the rear shock skids are attached. And that they are not the correct OEM shock mount...
  16. Tire Pressure -- 35 vs 39 PSI (ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

It actually used Falken load inflation data. Of which I could find only a subset of what ChatGPt displayed. Regardless, information and, in this case, doing field testing is the best way. AI is a tool. I find it useful. Unfortunately it is used to pollute the internet and makes finding “real...
  17. Tire Pressure -- 35 vs 39 PSI (ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

ChatGPT told me to run 29 front/27 rear on my Badlands 4dr on Falken Wildpeak AT4 31570R17 tires. Front axle weight is 3000/rear is 2400. This assumes just me in the vehicle. Not loaded for any trips on or offroad. I run 33-35ish front and rear normally. Maybe I’ll change. Maybe I won’t. But I...
  18. LOD Offroad Destroyer Rear Bumper Review

Have you seen any aftermarket bumpers with rounded recovery points? I have not. That’s one reason I keep the OEM recovery points, which admittedly looks a little odd. The other is I don’t trust recovery points that are above the frame attachment points. Creates a lot of downward leverage.
  19. 24 Hours of Appalachia Rally - 45 rigs started but only 10 finished

This looks like fun! Thx for the report.
  20. Update on Severe Duty Steering Kit for 4DR Non-SAS Excluded Models

Update: no idea if this means anything new. But it’s an update. “I just received a note from the product engineer. The M-3200-WT will not work on your truck, however they are waiting for approval on a new part number for the non-Sasquatch trucks. Once it is released, they will have it on our...
