  1. 7th Gen 2030 Bronco Coming End of 2029, Together With Electric Bronco EV (TE1 Platform)

It's actually still "global warming", but they switched to "climate change" in an attempt to head off people who run outside when it snows heavily and yell "Where's the warming now?!." Few seem to understand climate is global, and weather is local. Global warming leads to greater instability in...
  2. 7th Gen 2030 Bronco Coming End of 2029, Together With Electric Bronco EV (TE1 Platform)

I'm so thankful the Bronco6G forum has so many industry experts that can tell us exactly what is / isn't going to happen in BEV tech in the next 8 years. I was about to invest in battery tech companies, but thanks to this thread I'm going long on coal with a little on the side into oats for my...
  3. Bronco Fire / Meltdown From ABS Lockup Leading to Hydraulic Failure (Burst Brake Line) and Electrical Short?

I picked the first result in a Google search for EV battery recycling, but there are many. This one picks up and provides cash back (I guess if you're only recycling small batteries or a regular car battery (12v) they might charge, but otherwise seems like a solid outfit). Might be handy that...
  4. Bronco Fire / Meltdown From ABS Lockup Leading to Hydraulic Failure (Burst Brake Line) and Electrical Short?

If that's actually true, someone is making a huge mistake. There is a shortage of recyclable materials in the industry. They actually expect a shortage for the foreseeable future since demand is growing so much.
  5. Bronco Fire / Meltdown From ABS Lockup Leading to Hydraulic Failure (Burst Brake Line) and Electrical Short?

The hole in that door wasn't the aluminum burning - it just melted. The fire got hot enough at least in some areas to melt the relatively thin aluminum skin.
  6. Bronco Fire / Meltdown From ABS Lockup Leading to Hydraulic Failure (Burst Brake Line) and Electrical Short?

This site has it's own "six degrees of separation", though instead of tracing how you're no more than six social connections away from each other, it's any post is six pages of replies or less from complaints about electric vehicles. o_O
  7. Quick Survey - Bronco or Defender?

I disagree. (don't recall if this is a re-post in this very old thread - I can dig up plenty of others, but this is one of my favorites)
  8. ⚡️ New Scout EV website is live!

I'm not sure where everyone is coming up with this non-existent demand for diesel vehicles. They were popular in Europe, but that was only because taxes made diesel cheaper than regular gas, and they haven't been the most popular choice for several years now. Despite technological advances, they...
  9. ⚡️ New Scout EV website is live!

Ah, beautiful Zug Island - I'd recognize it anywhere, and it's especially fresh in my mind now since I flew over it two weeks ago on a family visit. The Google satellite view makes it look even worse - a dark spot that even makes the refineries and Ford Rouge facility look good. On my road trip...
  10. ⚡️ New Scout EV website is live!

This is not accurate at all. EV batteries can be recycled, and the material recovery rate is 95-98%. They can be made into new batteries once again. That "10 years" thing is at the bottom of the scale for lifespan. Federal law requires at least an 8 year /100k mile warranty, and CA is 10 year...
  11. Quick Survey - Bronco or Defender?

I'm not sure I can add a whole lot here that I haven't already said elsewhere. I find it funny how aggressively defensive some people get about the Defender around here. Drive what you like and be friendly on the trails, I say! Price: Seems to be more of a difference on the 2-doors. I have a...
  12. I'm stumped... what's missing from this picture??

Is this in reference to paint colors, or the different colors on one MIC top?
  13. I would buy this over a Bronco any day!

Oh come on, everyone loves a plastic top that is at least 3 different shades of gray and delaminates in the first year, or a floppy soft top with wavy windows! ;)
  14. I would buy this over a Bronco any day!

The Everest does indeed have serious off-road chops. I remember first seeing one being used in a BBC show called "World's Most Dangerous Roads", where they take two celebrities (British, as it's a BBC show), and puts them in a vehicle to drive in crazy / cool locations. One featured an Everest...
  15. Bronco vs. Hummer EV off-road review by TFL

That's no Land Rover - it's a GM product, so of course they overheated the brakes on the descent before crossing that stream. 😁 A LR can use engine braking to save the discs. It does indeed look like the brakes were hot, though even moderate braking can heat up the discs enough to cause a...
  16. ⚡️ 2024 Jeep RECON EV revealed as all-electric Wrangler! Resembles a Bronco with fixed roof!

The 600hp / 400 mile range thing in the article was for the electric Wagoneer. They haven't said what specs this will have, but it's smaller than the Wagoneer, so possibly less battery space. I feel like anything under 300 mile range will be a big disappointment to many.
  17. ⚡️ 2024 Jeep RECON EV revealed as all-electric Wrangler! Resembles a Bronco with fixed roof!

They seem to have the longevity of the batteries down pretty well at this point. Still need to work on cold performance and (for me, at least) charging speed. They're making decent progress and I hope it continues.
  18. ⚡️ 2024 Jeep RECON EV revealed as all-electric Wrangler! Resembles a Bronco with fixed roof!

I'm sort of in the same boat. I had a hybrid Fusion back in 2010 and it was fine, but I moved on and haven't had anything but ICE since. I'm definitely looking at at least a plug-in hybrid for my next vehicle. We'll see how the tech is and maybe I'd even go full-electric if the range is solid...
  19. About to get a Defender but turned to Bronco after test drives :)

You can get a very nicely equipped Defender for less than $85k, though. I started with an SE (which is already nicely equipped), optioned the off-road and advanced off-road packs (air suspension, locker), heated/cooled seats, adaptive cruise, clearsite rear-view mirror, and paid extra for the...
  20. About to get a Defender but turned to Bronco after test drives :)

I agree with "to each their own" - they're both great vehicles in my opinion, and everyone should be able to get what they're happiest with! I'm a week away from having my Defender for a year after I gave up the wait on my Badlands (made it to the dealer in January '22). My Badlands build was...
