  1. Midland MXT575 GMRS 2-Way Radio Install & Photos *SWR Report*

Sure, happy to help. About your "tuning" question. It depends on the antenna. Some do, some don't. I'm not sure what kind of "device" you're referring to. If it's a power/SWR meter, then, yes, they are somewhat freq. specific and your CB one likely won't work with GMRS. You can get one from...
  2. Midland MXT575 GMRS 2-Way Radio Install & Photos *SWR Report*

"The FRS is authorized 22 channels in the 462 MHz and 467 MHz range, all of which are shared with General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) which requires an individual license for use." In other words, the two overlap. However, the amount of power you can use in the FRS freqs is significantly...
  3. Midland MXT575 GMRS 2-Way Radio Install & Photos *SWR Report*

It depends on which BTECH (Baofeng Tech) radio you're looking at. They make one that's FCC certified. It's called the GMRS1 as I recall.
  4. Midland MXT575 GMRS 2-Way Radio Install & Photos *SWR Report*

On the runs I've been on, as long as it's a relatively small group of Broncos, a handheld has worked just fine. Personally, I like the Baofeng BF-F8HP tri-band hand held radio since some clubs around here use 2-meter, and some use GMRS and occasionally some people show up with FRS radios. That...
  5. 🏔️ Mormon Rocks Run - Cajon Pass w/ 25+ Bronco Owners 🏔️

This is a challenge for folks who are trying to put together runs. I've got one scheduled for Jan 14th, and I cross posted the event to this website, the other Bronco website, and a couple of Facebook groups. But trying to keep up with who all wants to attend with that many cross postings is a...
  6. 🏔️ Mormon Rocks Run - Cajon Pass w/ 25+ Bronco Owners 🏔️

Should be fine. The only tough spot was a landslide caused by the rain and it was kind of loose.
  7. 🏔️ Mormon Rocks Run - Cajon Pass w/ 25+ Bronco Owners 🏔️

It's all available through the 4xMore Bronco Offroad Facebook Group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/634863270947948
  8. 🏔️ Mormon Rocks Run - Cajon Pass w/ 25+ Bronco Owners 🏔️

I think that everyone was on 35+ tires. However, note the picture where we had to give one bronco a tug. That was an OBX with 35's, but no lockers, no sway bar disconnects, nada, as well as an inexperienced driver. That was the only "recovery" we had to do, and it was quick and simple.

As of last Sat, the gate to Grass Mountain Summit was closed, so we can't go up there for our lunch stop. See below for updated info on the route. The good news is it looks like the...

  12. Pinyon Mountain Trail... The Bronco Fits!

Don't forget the constant barrage of "tie rods break all the time", and "the 2.7 engine is garbage and breaks".
  13. Things I wish I knew before going to a Bronco Off-Roadeo - add yours

Which site was that? When we went to Moab they intentionally broke our group up into two smaller groups to avoid that problem.
  14. If I Bring My Wife To An Off-Roadeo…

My one big regret about going to Off-rodeo is that I didn't bring my wife! She loves going out on out off-road trips, and it would have been nice for her to get "taught" something about driving the Bronco by a 3rd party. :)
  15. Things I wish I knew before going to a Bronco Off-Roadeo - add yours

When I went to the one in Moab last year after dinner we all went to a big fire ring down by the river and hung out together. Well, most of us anyway, a few had to leave to get back to family that was waiting at their offsite hotel, etc. It was a great time, and we hung out till pretty late...
  16. Things I wish I knew before going to a Bronco Off-Roadeo - add yours

At least in Moab, they are on the same property, or close enough anyway so you can walk from your room to the Bronco Off-Rodeo HQ.

Yeah, he didn't want to get back into the truck! LOL
  19. If you build it they will come - Bronco Knoll Baptism 10/15/22

Have you tried using one of the off-road mapping programs like OnX or Gaigps? I’ve found them to be very useful.
