  1. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Those mustangs had engine knock problems and they ran like turds unless they were tuned. After tune you had to use 92 octane.
  2. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Wouldn't many thousands of 2.7's have been delivered? Ford only stopped building them recently and there's no 2.7 dirt mountain with 15,000 vehicles...that we know of. Right?
  3. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Have you ever lemon law returned a vehicle? I have not, but my concern is that you will still end up with a few thousand in lost fees, add-ons, ESP, maintenance package etc.
  4. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

If this is true, and you have another vehicle to drive, is it best to not drive the Bronco until Ford does a recall? Originally I thought it would be good to grenade it fast and get a replacement...
  5. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

They still will, it is not enough engine for the Bronco long term. Being lucky that Ford didn't build it like crap is luck, but it still is lacking.
  6. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

If it is a design issue wouldn't there be more failures besides the ones were seeing built June-August '21 ??
  7. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

It's all becoming clear to me now. The few weeks that these bad engines were installed, Milton was in charge of QA/QC. upload image
  8. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

We've heard from Ford techs that there are way more than 26 failed engines, but we have no idea how many. What we do know about is the reported failures here: 26 failures, over a range of 60 days of builds, which then was about 5000 builds. That puts the min. failure rate for that period at...
  9. Is the Rivian Bronco competition?

When it comes out in 2023 with the 400 mile range and hopefully a better front end, yeah. The reliability for these trucks won't be known for a while, so I'd probably let other folks be the beta testers. Then again Ford's been around for 120 years and has almost zero reputation for reliability...
  10. FINAL UPDATE: Complete Engine Failure - SAS Big Bend - 3wk Old / 1000mi / 2.7L EcoBoost

What kind of serious problems did you have with new engines, and how long after the replacement did they happen?
  11. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

This is great work, probably more effort than Ford is putting in at this point. Until we find out about the other 10 failure build dates it might be premature to call that gap "in the clear".
  12. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

If those ranges hold then the vast majority of 2.7 drivers can rest easy. That's just a few weeks worth of builds that would be at risk, maybe a few thousand?
  13. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I like that: oil change, test for metals if it looks bad replace the valves maybe Ford would prefer this to replacing entire engines?
  14. Any way to reduce turbo lag without exceeding torque?

I am not seeing much lag when passing, maybe 0.5-1 sec. A pedal commander sounds cool though, that wouldn't void the warranty right?
  15. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

If Ford really is redesigning the motor, maybe it will become a more widespread problem over time.
  16. And another one! 2.7 Engine Dead on the side of GA400

Same. I probably could unload the Bronco, but I'd be stuck with a loss for the extra crap I bought like the extended warranty and the paid maintenance.
  17. Another blown 2.7 UPDATE

In a week or so you can Lemon law the sucker if you've had it. (y)
  18. Another blown 2.7 UPDATE

Hahaha. 🤣🤣🤣You've been laughing so much at the fishwives, I figured you could take a joke. I certainly am not hoping for anyone's motor to blow.
  19. Another blown 2.7 UPDATE

Make sure you post here if/when your engine blows, along with a report detailing the super fast and smooth replacement process.
  20. Another blown 2.7 UPDATE

Hell yeah. If Ford sees any sign of tampering you can kiss your replacement engine goodbye. You don't think a sleazy, greedy corporation would miss the chance to save $10k do you?
