Red hot turbos getting suddenly shut down at every light is one good reason to disable it. The jittery starting irritation is another. Wearing out the starter is another. I could think of about 10 more reasons I don't want to ruin my vehicle or have less safety just so people can feel more...
They are natural to me too, I have 3 right now, and learned on a manual 40 something years ago. Have had at least one stick since. I just wondered how the gates feel, can you just "two finger" it into 3rd, if it naturally pops over in the neutral zone towards the right? How much higher does...
I bought the Big Bend with minimal options, locking rear differential, tow package, mod hard top. Yesterday I cancelled the tow and MOD. Standard transmission, standard trim, soft top until the hardtops are ready in a couple years. I'm totally sure I'll be happy with the Bronco at about $38K...
When I read your title, "manual trans test ride" I figured it would be about the transmission a lot. We have a ton of opinions about the ride, suspension, room inside. What about the....transmission?
I was on vacation and offline for 3 weeks, but the Ford email about getting the hard tops was a shock. Everyone is talking about the MIC top in this thread, that's the cheap looking one, gray being the only "color" and it looks like cheap plastic. What about the Modular Painted top? That's...
Good grief, there were probably other methods to show the speed without leaving the vehicle. Would have liked to see a bloopers version where he twists an ankle in a hole, or gets bit by a snake, and his Bronco drives off over the horizon into the sunset.
I'm not going to read all this, because why should any of us care someone is buying something else? Telling a Bronco forum you're buying a Hyundai or a coffee forum you're drinking tea is pretty narcissistic. A cry for attention.
Rather believe what the CEO of Ford said, they have enough ICs for current Bronco production plans. These "the sky is falling" threads are getting old.
Who said they are? Everything I've read is the Bronco production has enough "chips". Bear in mind, there are probably 15 different types of Integrated Circuits in every Bronco.... Perhaps someone wanting an obscure option like heated seats may be impacted. If it has it's own IC.
That's what's great about camping in the Great Wide Open, all the land around where you park. So, I don't know....let's put our tent, hmmm, on TOP of our vehicle!
And why are some comparing the Bronco to a truck? A Tacoma is a truck. And it's not a Jeep, it's an SUV. Compare it to a 4Runner or Defender or other enclosed 4 seater without a bed. The Defender 90 is rated at about the same milage this year. " Admittedly, the Defender does worse here than...
But I'm in agreement against the turbos. It is the one nagging fear I have about the Bronco, getting a tiny engine with a high RPM, red hot jet engine stuck on it to make decent power. How long will it last? If I have to buy a new turbo or even an engine in 5-10 years, the expenditure will be...
The MPG yearly gas cost difference is slight. But by getting a Base or Big Bend for with the 2.3 Manual, I'm spending about $5000 less than a 2.7 Auto, right? And by getting the standard trim package, paying about $2000 less again, and probably several hundred pounds less weight. And by...
I don't mean semantics or specifics even, but doesn't an automatically pretty much disengage the gears when you lift the throttle? In effect, coasting and letting you use just the brakes. Unless you push a "sport" button or GOAT mode. I'd say that's what I do with a manual, if I choose to use...
I've mostly driven manuals since I was 16, over 40 years ago. Motorcycles and cars. I downshift some slowdowns, but not always if not needed. Coming off the highway and up the ramp for example, I'll just lift off the gas for half the ramp, then go from 6th or 5th to third. Then brakes only...
I'd like the top surfaces only to be white, for cooling and because you don't really see much of the top from the road level. I'd like the sides of the back to be either black or the same color as the body. I may just do it myself with the black MOD I ordered - wrap the top panels white.
If you order a hard top now, you'll not get it for a couple years. Just in time, for when the sun, ozone, and rain are causing the soft top to deteriorate and need replacing. I'm just waiting for my build, with the Modular Hard top. They're going to have plenty of them by this winter...
