  1. New product idea for aftermarket vendors: transmission output shaft state monitor (for flat towing)

Us Bronco owners that flat tow our vehicles need something to monitor the transmission output shaft state. I understand there is a hall sensor that measures this in the transmission. Something that would plug into transmission harness and allow this signal to be monitored from drivers seat of...
  2. Flat tow failure

I though that too. By the time your heating things up friction damage has already occurred.
  3. Flat tow failure

Initially I was very concerned about this. Looked into all kinds of possible solutions. Haven't come up with anything yet other than check lists and videos. Dgorset talked me off the ledge with similar reasoning. I love the Bronco other than this issue. So I'm going to be carefully documenting...
  4. Dont put your hard top front panels in the back seat

Put a sticker on it, that reminds me of the freight company I drove for before I retired. The city tractors generally had at least 350 to 400 thousand miles on them. They were shot inside. We literally held the interior panels together with the tracking stickers we used for freight we picked...
  5. Getting ready to take the plunge - am I getting this right?

I should have said "viable for the average Joe."😆
  6. Getting ready to take the plunge - am I getting this right?

Per owners manual DO NOT DISCONNECT BATTERY. So thats out...temperature sensor might work if you catch it quick enough. I wish there was a way to implement the shaft sensor you brought up earlier. That would be the ultimate way to know if its turning when it shouldn't be. I'm installing a...
  7. Getting ready to take the plunge - am I getting this right?

I wonder what the computer would think about that? Probably have fault codes up the yang when you plug it back in. I thought about unplugging shift motor too. But one of the Ford mechs on the forum said it could produce undesirable effects so I would think this would do same thing. Also...
  8. Getting ready to take the plunge - am I getting this right?

I was trying to figure that out myself. A hall sensor would work perfectly IF there was a way to access the shaft. Being its mated directly to transfer case there is no shaft exposed to mount sensor to otherwise this would be excellent solution. I considered tapping into factory sensor but that...
  9. Ford claims flat towing our 4 mo. old Bronco destroyed the transmission (not covering under warranty)

I am buying a dvr system with gps similar to what is used in commercial vehicles. The system will be active 24 hrs a day while towing. The cameras will be aimed at all applicable criteria that shows neutral tow mode enabled. I will be recording and downloading those videos to computer and cloud...
  10. Ford claims flat towing our 4 mo. old Bronco destroyed the transmission (not covering under warranty)

Problem is for us that stay at campgrounds there is seldom anywhere to put trailer when you arrive. I understand this is way to avoid potential problems but the vehicle is advertised as towable 4 down and is why I purchased mine. I looked into all kinds of possible solutions, driveshaft...
  11. Pics: Roadmaster Flat Towing Fits OOTB

That isn't necessarily true. I have my updates turned on but had to bring it to dealer for flat tow brake issue update. They did 4 updates while there. My 2023 was built in October 2023. Apparently they don't do all updates ota per service manager.
  12. Hello from WV!

  13. Bronco or RV?!

I bet you wouldn't want to what they have invested in that. Probably buy a pretty nice Bronco!
  14. Bronco Badlands or Jeep Gladiator for Flat Towing?

I do tend to go a bit scorched earth when I encounter a problem!😅
  15. Bronco Badlands or Jeep Gladiator for Flat Towing?

Oh I know all about it. I guess it comes down to did the people that had a failure do something wrong or is there a glitch in the software. There is no way to know. I spoke with a Ford tech. He told me there is no way for them to verify if it was in flat tow mode properly, they can only see the...
  16. Bronco Badlands or Jeep Gladiator for Flat Towing?

I hear you, I sure wish I had known about the flat tow issue before we bought our Bronco. All I can do now is document and video the procedure religiously and if it fails and they won't warranty it I will go to court. I could sell it at a loss but wife not too impressed with that idea. (Little...
  17. Bronco Badlands or Jeep Gladiator for Flat Towing?

Removing only rear drive shaft isn't sufficient as front shaft is still turning while 4 down. You have to disconnect both shafts. From what I have been able to find out the transfer case has an oil pump that is driven by the rear output shaft. With just rear shaft disconnected the front shaft...
  18. How do you clean & make the black parts look best?

I noticed in Amazon description it says not to use on new stuff as it hasn't gassed out yet. You notice anything after using it?
  19. Neutral Tow / Transmission Problem

I hear you, I sure wish I had known about this before I bought the Bronco. Would have bought something else for sure.
