From some angles the 74 portals also look like they may shift the tie rod attachement point lower, which would make this bottom out issues worse. The 4wp coilovers are right at the length limit as it is.
These failures are surprising to me. Outside of any beef with how 74 conducts themselves, these tie rod mounts seem much beefier than the stocks and people on bigger tires arent ripping stock uprights like this. And the stocks are cast vs this billet 7075. Makes me wonder if it is a bad heat...
I am looking for a set of the badlands optional beadlock capable wheels that were availalbe with the 33s on a non sas badlands. I am located in the gulf south and would prefer something within a few hours drive.
I have done quite a bit of the SW Colorado Trails, but living in gulf south LA my two closest options are Barnwell Mountain in TX and Hot Springs. They have their pros and cons, but I enjoy them both. The sign marking in particular at Hot Springs was incredible. We never once felt like we...
We didn't get this far without the front and rear locked, that is for certain.
What you describe is what I did. I winched until the front driver was starting to climb and then F&R locked with tension and the rear swung down hill and pointed the bronco to climb the face with a bit of winch help...
This was probably the trickiest pull. Hotsprings has some spicy sections and here I was trying to snake along the passenger side of the trail and couldn't get enough front end bite to pull the driver rear over a boulder it was hung up on. This was reading 22-25 left tilt and 20 forward tilt...
I dont much care for perch collars, they will affect the ride and make it uncomfortable in bump. I much prefer the coilover spacer *as long as you don''t overextend the CV* with a 1" spacer you will not overextend the CV or steering.
Disagree. It all depends on the collapsed length. Some...
I think you are overcomplicating the decision a bit. Your 35 to 37" tire change means that your tire to fender clearance only changed by 1" because it is the radius. Most people have more clearance issues because they also go to 0 offset wheels.
Since you only lost 1" of fender to tire...
The king pin angle (front view) is driven by camber and upright geometry so at a correct wheel camber the angle should remain at 13.5.
The mechanical trail (like scrub radius for in the fore/aft direction) varies with different control arms and caster angles and could grow substantially with big...
Did you guys calc the scrub radius and mechanical trail with the portals and those offsets? It would be very interesting to put them through 87-Z28 calcs to check what you end up with.
I would most certainly want some frame horn reinfocements with a kit like this. Otherwise it makes sense.
With an evo mounted it weighs 124lbs... thats no small amount of weight to be swinging on and off.
