That's more of an issue on the intermodal side and largely in California.
Trespassers on auto trains is more of an issue at border crossings with people trying to sneak in to the country by hiding in finished vehicles.
I would say that the Bronco in question was already sold to the carrier responsible for the damage.
Typical process for in-transit damage that renders the vehicle "unsellable" is for the carrier to buy the vehicle from Ford and then the carrier will sell the vehicle to recoup anything they can...
That stat is misleading. Often the derailments in those stats occur within rail yards or industry locations and consist of one car putting one wheel on the ground. Major derailments are much less frequent.
Also, the OP’s profile says Indiana. My guess is his vehicle went exclusively by truck.
Figured this was a shoo in. They tend to favor vehicles that set themselves apart from others.
The Genesis is a nice vehicle, but its a luxury SUV. Probably would of been winner any other year.
I like. Planning Off-Roadeo at Moab this summer and my wife shocked me when she got a mattress to sleep in the back of the Bronco. Maybe something like this will make that more feasible.
@LiteBrite it would be great as you prove the Bronco out to have Chris throw it up on the lift for a post inspection. Is all the scrapping just doing cosmetic damage or are you headed towards part failure after the 3rd or 4th trip?
Yes, but the price of crude is only one small part of the cost you see at the pump. Most of what I cited causes an increase in the produce of gasoline at the pump regardless of the price of crude on the open market.
On the future of gas prices….
The slooowww transition to electric vehicles will have a reducing effect on the price of gasoline. Simple supply vs demand economics. As demand decreases due to EVs, supply will decrease but not at the same pace due to fixed costs within the supply chain.
Second...
I've only used carplay in rental cars (However, I do drive rental cars more than my own car) and only used wireless car play on one or two occassions, so I'm not 100% on this...
I'm thinking it might have to do with wireless car play. It may be that the phone only maintains connection with one...
I've lived in FL, I've lived in KS, and I live in NE. High winds in FL are way different than on the Great Plains.
As you mention, you get your winds in Hurricanes. These are known, anticipated events so people hunker down and wait it out. When we get winds in the midwest, we don't know days...
Eh, they'll run it as is for a month or two and then do an install video. That way it's more "credible" when they tell people how much better the Bestop Softie is. Figure third/fourth video featuring the Bronco.
That said, I the factory soft top on my build and do plan on upgrading to the...
Welcome to the great plains people. High winds are a regular occurrence and if you are dealing with a crosswind you're just lucky to keep it on the road.
The trucks that tipped over were probably unloaded, but still weighed in the neighborhood of 10-15 tons. If wind can knock them over, I'm...
Also, for anyone who wants to say the whole Bronco / Bronco Sport is confusing thing. Jeep has been doing the Jeep Cherokee / Grand Cherokee thing for years and not had a problem. They is doubled down with the Wagoneer / Grand Wagoneer
That sucks for him. Don’t know how someone could spend $30k and not know they were(n’t) getting the right thing. Did this guy never go to the Ford website?
I said speed was only one of the factors, I did not say that it wasn't a factor. As you point out, the velocity has a direct relationship to the initial force of the impact.
Also, the post I responded to said that speed was split evenly between the two vehicles, which is not correct, the force...
Looks like the Bronco went up on the hood of the Crown Vic which as long as the Bronco doesn't enter the passenger compartment of the Crown Vic and the Crown Vic doesn't cause the Bronco to roll is the best case scenario for both drivers. Means a lot of the forcers were transferred into the...
