There are a couple threads on here and the Ranger forum. The noise is the Wastegate actuator on the turbo cycling itself. This is why you can hear it simply by unlocking/waking up your truck. Other than annoying, it is benign and should go away once the engine is warm.
There was a video of a guy...
I thought the same thing until I listened to it with the hood open and the sound is exactly the same. And you can even watch the part in the turbo move and coincide with the noise being made.
This noise is 100% the turbo wastegate actuator as mentioned above and is a normal noise for these engines apparently. If you stand by your truck and unlock it you will hear it before even turning your engine on.
The noise is essentially the actuator cycling itself through to make sure it can...
I saw someone who mentioned that they may not want to de-value the from factory option. Best way to do that is to make this one slightly less functional with less switches. This is what makes the most sense to me.
Do all Bronco's without tow package come with this pigtail? I have a 25 Base and was wanting to add a hitch. If there is already an existing pigtail I will go with the Ford kit above.
Update: After driving home from work it seems my earlier fix was not 100% effective HOWEVER I do feel that the noise is now quieter. (Or I’m just making myself believe that)
Next I want to try to lubricate the rubber seals all around, maybe look at the tension cable, and if all else fails… Give...
Update: After picking up my truck from the dealership for a totally different (and still unresolved) issue… I went around and checked all the seals along the soft top.
I found one seal in particular that had a slight crimp/fold in it so I moved it around and straightened it out and laid it...
Something I'll definitely look at! And I'm on the same time as you as far as knowing it's a noisy vehicle wether I fix this or not. 🤷🏻♂️ Although I'm still in warranty idek if I would bother having my dealership look at it..
Interesting thank you for sharing. I plan on lubricating all the rubber seals around the truck soon so maybe that will help a little. Should help with the other rattles and creaks as well!
Could be this as well just odd that it wasn't always there. I'll check my seals and stuff and see what they look like. I was planning on lubing them up soon anyways.
Well please report back if they figure anything out! Like I said I have the soft top anyways so I'm not too worried about it but would like to at least know why it started.
Hm that's odd... I figured it was a soft top related issue but after doing more digging this morning it seems that hard top folks also experience this. Makes no sense.
Hello all. I saw there was already a thread on the forum about this from a few years ago however it looked like no one ever mentioned a cause or potential fix for the problem.
I have a '25 Base w/ soft top and a couple of days ago I randomly noticed wind noise that seems to be coming from right...
Sorry to revive this thread but seeing if anyone has found a fix for this? I have ‘25 w/ a soft top and have recently developed a wind noise from above rear passenger window. I can’t seem to find the cause…
Mine makes this same exact noise. There is a thread on here and a guy who claims to work on Broncos say it is the turbo wastegate actuator cycling itself which is why you can hear it upon unlocking the door AND can replicate the noise when accelerating at slower speeds. (Tried finding the thread...
On a previous thread they said they are trying to develop one with windows on it still. Might be hard to make it look good but I would definitely be interested.
