All I added were Barnes rear shock skids, RCI cross member skids and a transmission plate that I fabricated.
I feel as though all of the factory skids are adequate for our needs.
Yep, that's why I plated the rear frame section of my current '03 Tacoma.
I've read about the engine mounts but haven't had any issues yet......of course I do only have 230,000 miles on mine currently :) .
Same. I don't think you can use a blanket statement that a D44 can now handle 37-40's without factoring in vehicle weight. My rule has always been 35's max with a D44 for how we use our trucks.
My Tundra was pushing 6,000 lbs unloaded and topped out closer to 6,500 Lbs when loaded for a week...
Decided to go back and add "rock dome" bolt head protectors to the two rear transmission skid plate bolts. I found some 10mm bolts in the shop that had low profile 17mm heads, which are perfect for these protectors.
We like the look of ours much better with the standard flares, plus it will help protect the flares a little more off-road. I did replace the factory rear bumper caps with the straight non-SAS caps.
We traded ours with somebody local who was running aftermarket wheels/tires and the SAS flares...
I installed ours by myself with a single jack stand, it wasn't difficult at all.
Just for others, sure a lift is a really nice option to have around, but it's not a necessity for installation of these slider in case you don't own one.
I'm not following why they milled the bolt area down only to have to add spacers to get it back flat.
Since I've never had our bumper off I'm sure I'm missing something obvious....but I'm not seeing it?
That's exactly how I built the hidden winch mount for my Tacoma, it's not going anywhere and is still technically "bolt-on", but I sleeved and plated the frame.
Those bolt-on winch mounts for the Broncos are so cantilevered out and above the bumper attachment points I can't see how any upward...
Finally found somebody to trade for some non-SAS fender flares.
Still waiting on the new non-SAS rear bumper caps to arrive, but I already like the look way better without those wide flares.
I just removed our bumper caps 30 minutes ago.
There's three white clips that have tabs, you have to press down on the tab and slide the white clip out, they will come completely out. I used two long flat blade screw drivers to do that, it's very easy.
Now the more interesting part is you...
Well....after about 30 minutes of flashlights, mirrors and minor cussing I've confirmed that our '23, which was built last mid November, does have the "updated" alternator shield.
Thanks @killaz05 for the old vs new pictures.
Same here - '23 Badlands Lux and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The back of my case gets warm, but it charges and runs CarPlay fine.
But the longest drive we've taken is about an hour, so maybe it hasn't been on there long enough to overheat.
