  1. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I was a bit perplexed as I said by how briefly the ASS remained switched off with the AC on, but I accept that it is by design. It has been over 90 on the commute home, and it doesn't switch off then. I can live with all that, I just can't abide this parking thing. Maybe I can get in the...
  2. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I think batteries are still 3-5 years regardless of whether you have ASS or not.
  3. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I like the fact that the eliminator doesn't disable the functionality, it just persists the setting across system restarts. It really should work that way, I mean why persist the defogger setting but not this? It doesn't appear to violate EPA standards to persist the setting. I have found...
  4. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I guess I'm a bit more optimistic here. This isn't your granddad's starter that goes k-k-k-k-k-k-shhhhVRRROOOOOOOOM!!!! They've really optimized the engine startup and it is like any other engineering problem, they have to determine the MTTF and mitigate the risk of premature failures. But...
  5. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

What was the root cause of the stall though? I think ASS can certainly exacerbate the problem if your engine is stalling, that's the point of the defeat switch. But that's different from causing stalls anomalously.
  6. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I'm struggling with how ugly of a solution this is, if that's what it is. Really ASS in park should work like drive, restart when the brake is lifted (in addition to the other conditions). As long as the brake is pressed, there is a driver in the seat. So, you'd turn off the engine and then...
  7. Thoughts on looking too offroad

The secret is to find some mud in town when it rains to drive through and not wash it for a month. Then you don't look like "that guy".
  8. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

Plausible, I'll try ninja-shifting into park really quickly next time.
  9. I was sharked

I'll take "drunking" over "ducking" any day! Just have to wait to get home to partake...
  10. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

Winner winner chicken dinner? Yeah, so you come to a stop in your garage, and ASS shuts the engine off. You shift into park and the engine stays off. You get distracted and leave the vehicle with it on, and there's no engine noise to remind you. You close the garage door and go inside. Then...
  11. Two-week honeymoon with Auto Start-Stop

I know this feature draws a lot of ire, but I have a new Bronco and will leave it stock for the time being. I've left auto start-stop enabled and have been commuting to work every day, mostly in stop-and-go suburban driving (yeah I know...). At first, I was surprised at the engine suddenly...
  12. Printed owner's manual?

I was able to find my 2023 in PDF form on Ford.com. https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2023_Ford_Bronco_Owners_Manual_version_1_om_EN-US.pdf I think the problem with printing that manual is that there are so many optional features on Broncos. So, it's...
  13. Could not shut off Bronco tonight

Does the auto start-stop function when it is in that state? With the engine "on", that will make it easier to tow and deal with worst case.
  14. I was sharked

I didn't know ducking was a thing until a week or two ago. Now it's sharking!
  15. So what's the deal with MSRP?

Thanks for the replies, I'll summarize the August 2023 Bronco pricing landscape for posterity: 1) You can expect to pay near MSRP for a Bronco if you are patient, flexible, and shrewd. 2) If you are impatient, inflexible, and/or impulsive, you might pay anywhere from a few thousand to ten...
  16. Uncomfortable front seats! What is the solution?

I deal with back pain off and on from office chairs. I can say that very small adjustments can make a big difference. My stock Bronco seat has been great so far, but my longest trip has only been an hour.
  17. So what's the deal with MSRP?

You know I did look at the used Bronco prices. I generally buy used cars and drive them silly, so this was a departure. I just didn't see enough price savings to make it worthwhile, to say nothing of the limited inventory in my area.
  18. So what's the deal with MSRP?

Yes, I joined B6G about a week after purchasing the vehicle. I did research up front: some anonymously here and some elsewhere. Most of that was focused on feature comparisons with other makes and models, not so much on prices. I showed up unannounced at the dealer and was sort of surprised...
  19. So what's the deal with MSRP?

Well, I hadn't bought a new vehicle in 25 years and had the new purchase jitters. So that was what was on my mind during Week 1. I'm not sure what additional justification I'm really required to provide here.
