The issue is there aren‘t a lot of options to move it to without sacrificing functionality. The only realistic option would be attaching it to the third brake light, but even then you’d have to bring it out far enough so the tire won’t obstruct the view.

Why would you assume it’s the current MPG when it’s between two fields that reset to zero? It makes more sense to have it reflect MPG since the trip odometer was last reset.
