The repaint went well and I have not noticed any issues yet. They did the door and the rear quarter panel. Both look a LOT better.
They also adjusted the tailgate. I think it might still slightly touch the bottom of the rear window when I close it but it is tons better. Closes like a normal...
I have not. I want to make sure I get it before I spend it. Likely I will use it towards a synthetic fairlead and buy a replacement synthetic rope from a less expensive source. The rebate says $100 credit if you are in the USA and a remote if you are in Puerto Rico or Canada. The line is long...
Update: After having the Ford body shop manager look at it, they submitted it and got a repaint approved. Besides the door drip line issue, he also noted the rear quarter panel was not fully painted. Once he pointed it out, it was obvious, but I had not noticed it until then. I don't know how...
Arrived today; that was super fast.
Wired control only.
The rebate went in with no issues. $100 credit claim for lack of a wireless controller also went in (albeit VERY slowly)
Well, good news. I won't have trouble with the dealership replicating the issue. First audio is 4H, second is 4L. Both rolling about 20 feet in a level parking lot with just engine idle pushing me along.
Sorry the audio is pretty crap.
Worth noting also: When the metal-on-metal sound occurs, it does not stop when I brake. It is independent from wheel movement, though maybe because whatever is letting go is disconnected from the wheel at that moment.
Hopefully, these pictures suffice.
Driver side (wheel is flexed all the way...
Yours sounds very similar. I am certainly a bit gun shy at this point, so I won't fully discount that possibility. That being said, I have done a decent amount of offroading with the Bronco before now and had it stuck several times. I can't say 100% it did not do the same thing previously, but I...
Currently, everything is stock as far as suspension. I just picked up Sasquatch coilovers, but I am not putting them on until the issue is fixed. Don't want them blaming the change for the issue.
A pretty knowledgeable offroading guy thought it was also the CV axle when he heard it.
Is it...
Unfortunately, the tech was not around to ask and I couldn't confirm the point of failure. The shop notes confirmed no visible signs of damage on the outside. borescope confirmed damage to the differential, with lots of metal bits in the fluid when drained.
The same day I picked it up I did...
Apologies, this gets wordy, but I want to make sure I cover as much detail as I can to hopefully get a solid response.
I just picked up my Bronco after the front differential failed about a month ago. Everything seemed ok, but then it didn't. Some background to put sounds and such into context...
Just had my FD go this past weekend. I thought it was the driver-side CV, but they told me both CVs looked okay. Of course, the part is on backorder, so we will see how long until I get it back. Trying to turn around on a bad mud hill after finding two downed trees in the way. Recovery boards...
Likely I would need a flexible camera thing to look. I can't get my head close enough to the windshield to look down at it. Will see what I can do though.
