@mjp2 - See photo below. It looks like one of the wires at the transfer case has frayed and is exposed. I guess I am going to need to take it in. Is this similar to what you had? I am hoping it is an easy fix at the dealer.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Looking to see if anyone has words of wisdom. I did some off roading yesterday and was in 4 low. At the end of the trail I tried to shift out of 4 low into 2 H and got the warning of 'Check 4x4' and 'Service Soon'. It went into 4 H and would not let me put it in any other mode. I had a long...

Ordered from this website and they were shipped from a dealer. They arrived last week and everything looks good. I am hoping to install in a couple of weeks.
I just ordered the 3 parts for $566 plus shipping. I am going to take the plunge in a few weeks. For the price and a little (maybe a lot) of extra effort this will be a better option than aftermarket switches. Now I just hope I don't mess it up!
I am debating about the programming piece. I may...
I asked about it at the dealer last week when I was getting an oil change and they said if it doesn’t show up as an update or recall on my VIN they wouldn’t do it. I didn’t press the issue as I really don’t know what the update is called. I may try again next time.
I did make the trip yesterday. I drove up Nimblewill and walked around and ate. BUT my plans got derailed when an Appalachian Trail hiker said she was done and wanted a ride to a lodge. She was struggling. SO I drove her back down Nimblewill to the Amicalola Falls lodge. That was about an hour...
I have some open time tomorrow and I was thinking of doing Old Bucktown Road. Is it a safe bet to go solo on that trail for a relative newbie to off roading? I don't have a winch. Anyone interested in slacking off and joining me? I will probably shoot to get to Nimblewill sometime mid morning...
I am really curious about this as well. I have 15k miles and I have just did my second 4 wheel rotation today. So it will be 20k before I will be able to rotate the 5th. Thinking of keeping a dedicated spare. I like the territories but they seem to be wearing really quickly. Based on my gauge...
I have a similar OBX with the 2.7 instead of the 2.3. Here are my thoughts after owning for over a year. Mainly a daily driver but I do get offroad and it is a blast.
- I love the soft top. I keep the back windows out most of the warmer months and it so easy to fold back. Noise doesn't bother...
No it's part of that plastic saddle. It looks like a crack in the picture, but it's a solid piece. It's inset right there so it looks like a crack. The gap and rattle is in the joint below it.
I should clarify that it is a pivoting joint. i could shim it with something like paper or plastic, but will have to redo after folding the top. I may try some thicker grease or see if I can clamp it harder without breaking it.
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
I have a soft top that has been rattling for a long time. I finally tracked down the culprit. One of the hinges is loose. See photo below. There is a tiny gap in the hinge and the metal rattles like crazy when driving. What can I put in that gap? Is there a tool that can tighten the rivet...
I will be following to see what you find. I have similar but different issue. It sounds like the vent doors are pushing on a loose screw or ball bearing creating a 'rolling' sound every time I start. I really don't want to go on a wild goose chase with the dealer as it doesn't seem like a common...
Yes and yes. It will do it on start or just ACC sounds like a marble rolling on plastic and then stops. I think there is something loose in there or the vent is dragging along plastic.....or an m&m. I will post a video when I have time.
Every time I press the start button it sounds like something is rolling around in the dash. It’s definitely linked to internal vents opening. Nothing to do with engine starting as that doesn’t trigger it. It sounds like a ball bearing or loose screw rolling around every time I start. Anyone...
