Over the past couple of weeks, I've been getting a grinding sound in my dash at start up and shut down. Brought it to Ford... they had it for 3 days and said they couldn't recreate. It happened right after I got it back, so I drove directly to the dealership so the service manager could hear it. They have asked me to bring it back in a week when a Ford engineer is visiting. He said they know the issue is out there, but no fix has been issued from Ford.

I've also posted in Bronco Nation and Chicagoland Bronco FB pages and have gotten some great insight. I'm curious how many are dealing with the same issue and if anyone has been given any specific information on the fix.

I will be following to see what you find. I have similar but different issue. It sounds like the vent doors are pushing on a loose screw or ball bearing creating a 'rolling' sound every time I start. I really don't want to go on a wild goose chase with the dealer as it doesn't seem like a common issue and I wouldn't look forward to my dash taken apart if they can't ultimately fix it. Blend/mode door actuators are moving and it's either them or the door, door pivots, or door seals making the noise. Plastic on plastic and seems to be worse, at least my experience, in the colder months. If you have auto HVAC you may hear the noise from time to time without any input from you as the vehicle is trying to maintain your set temp. and/or switch from recirc to outside air.

Lubing may help but they aren't easy to access and you'd need to know what part is actually causing the creaky-popping. Heavy white lithium or Krytox is what I'd try if it got to the point of overwhelming annoyance.

Thank you... to your point, I'm not sure how I'd get to the parts and definitely don't want to tear apart the dash (either does the service manager). Thank you for the schematic and suggestion.
